148 db...........any good?

ok well my cousin came over this weekend and wanted to hear my system maybe even tweak it a bit for me which he did. He had won over 10 car audio shows with his old cavy. but had to sell everything because of family....sucks! but anyway he was reading off of my system 148db. he told me that was quit well for the set up i had and was pretty impressed. I never did ask him, but i was thinking as soon as i get 2 sets of subs,1 farad compasitor, and an amp, maybe i could try a car audio show? i don't care if i lose. but i am assuming 148db is ok than?

Yeah, 148dB is pretty kickass!! You still have the bandpass box?? That would probably be the reason why.

You capacitor should be 1.2 Farad for every 1000 watts your amp produces in your current setup. Not what it is "rated" just get out the multimeter and measure the watts and amps at the subwoofer terminals... just remember the numbers may both be over 100, so don't touch them.

The set up is in my car domain. but yes that was with a band pass. running 2 12" with a 1500 watt max power rockford fosgate amp running the 12's and a 900watt max power to my components

Edit: would this capasitor work? http://cgi.ebay.com/POWER-ACOUSTIK-P...QQcmdZViewItem

Yes, but with 18dB on your score he's 64x louder, mathmatically.

Yeah, that cap should be fine.

^^^ x2...I'm about a 146-48...

On a radioshack meter I could probably be a 160

You HAVE to use the newest termlab with newest updated software for a score to count now-a-days.

I seriously doubt you hit a 48...I'll be extremely jealous if you hit a 148 in a bandpass...not saying it can't be done...but if you don't know that a 48 is freakin awesome...I doubt your hitting it.

all tones at 40hz

at 138-140...the average persons ears should heart

at 145...my chest hurts...pretty f'ing bad!!!

at 150...well, it hurts...everywhere, your ears, chest, skin, back, and it vibrates everywhere

BTW, once again I don't mean to come off as a *****. I'm not trying to be, so lets not e-fight over it. I'm just stating my point...sorry if I'm being rude though

meca style: headrest with (IIRC one door/window open ONLY, car on)

legal: windows up, car off, either measured at the kick or in the dash

legal/meca should be a couple DB's difference

btw, a 48 takes A LOT to hit. Most people can't just throw in subs and hit that. Thats a lot of electrical upgrades, amps, box, etc

yeah um there is compression on the chest, hold your teeth apart alittle bit they chatter, people can't stand to sit in the truck and listen to the music the way i want to. what else do you want? And i dont just throw **** in there. Im not like most of my friends. "TONKARANGER04" WHERE ARE YOU TO PROOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: I know my band pass box that i have is losing power but thats besides the point

what kinda meter was it?

if it's the audiocontrol...i'll belive it (it is not that accurate)

I hit 139.x with 1 10 on the newest termlab with updated software

I think mine hits about 46-48 now...never got it metered...but I've been to comps where theres a few 50's and above on the TL...and it's hard to sit in. Thats with about 2-3k worth of audio equipment.

I'm jealous that your hitting it off of a q-logic band-pass...I have a TCAB box with type r's (not the greatest, but OK) and I'm probably in that range.

Same with blurple...he's got 2 12" kickers...he's probably about a 48 too...we spent way more money!!!

It's cool though, get on that termlab homeboy!!! I wanna see what you hit meca style!!!

From what my cousin told me, you can have 2 10" subs and still hit that. Its all in the set up you have. He was in to car audio BIG time and won alot of ****! He has seen it happn before. My cousin is no bull ****ter and knows what he is talking about. the car he had........Im not even going to step into. He told me all the pro and cons of my box. But also tweaked a few things and made it sound alittle bit better. I know 148 is loud but loud enough for comp....? The meter he had sounds like the above. But he said they use it at compitions.....? so i dont know what make that would be? sorry?

Edit: Id like to get a few extra things than actually maybe go into a show and see what i can do there. Prob come in last place but the experience would be nice?
