2001 Speaker Upgrade Advice Request

Greetings all

I have a stock 2001 Ranger that I wish to upgrade the speakers. I recently replaced the stock radio with a JVC CD player/receiver. I am now interested in replacing the stock 6x8 speakers in the doors AND add 4 inch speakers in the manufacturer mounts behind the seats.

I listen primarily to audiobooks and an eclectic assortment of music and am not necessarily interested in installing an amp or subwoofer.

My desired price range is ~$50.00-$60.00 for the door speakers and slightly less for the pair behind the seats.

So.... my question is, what speaker combination should I install?

Thanks!

George

If you want cheap but quality speakers go with the kicker CompS coaxial speakers. I got 2 pairs (both 6x8) for about $100, plus 20 for the harnesses. And what exactly do you mean by adding 4 inch speakers in the manufactured mounts?

Why step down to a 4" speaker in a 6x8 location? I ran a set of the basic Pioneer 3 ways in the front doors for a while in high school. sounded descent. Now I have Pioneer 6 3/4" component speakers front and back. It sounds a whole lot better now than it did 5 years ago.
