2007 + MP3 AUX input jack mod
Hey guys,
I just bought a 2007 factory MP3 AUX input jack and the factory MP3 stereo to go with it for my 2004 Ranger. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever done this mod on a older Ranger with the on/off air bag switch before.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

what are you looking to do? Take everything from the 07 and put it into your 04? I know people have moved the airbag switch to the side of the consolette. The aux plug with the shroud from the 07 should fit right in the hole for the airbag light. You will have to take a dremmel to it though because its more of a square. Then the keyhole maybe you could leave there and just relocate the light if they are separate.

Is this built in to the ’07 radio ?
I have a unit that hooks up to the rear of the OEM Radio (plug into the Aux Deck Hook up), it has an iPod Connector and a 3.5mm Plug and operates as indiviual CD, change a CD on the Front of the radio and change a playlist.
I have never thought of adding plugs to the air bag sw area of the dash for this connections, I will have to work on it.
Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for responding to my question. I really don't want to take everything from the 07 and put into my 04, I just want to put the 2007 stereo in, the 2007 bezel with the airbag on/off light and the AUX jack, I probably won't be able to do this without repacing the whole in-dash wiring harness and the SRS box because I know that Ford changed the SRS system to where you can't just turn the passenger side airbag on and off to meet the new safety standards.
It looks like the 2007 + Rangers have a special weight sensor in the passenger side seat to tell weather or not you have an adult, child or if the seat is empty.

Just wondering why you would be changing the bezel too? I would keep the bezel you have or one similar. Unless your thinking of putting your airbag light where the 07 is. There is a weight sensor in the 07s so I wouldnt mess with your SRS system. It would be easier to just relocate the existing light you have now. It would be real easy to move the airbag switch/light that you have now to the consolette. The radio/aux plug should be plug and play.

I don't need to have the light in the bezel like the 2007 + Rangers. I mainly want to have the MP3 Stereo and the AUX jack, and I can do that if the wires from the AUX jack go directly in the 2007 MP3 stereo that I have.
Here's a picture of the wires going into the back of the 2007 stereo, can you please tell me how many wires run from the stereo to the AUX jack? (Hopefully the wires go directly from the jack to the stereo)
Thanks,
Brian

I'm not 100% sure on the question, but I have an '06 ranger while my dad has an '07. He didn't use the aux jack so I just took out his stock radio and pulled out the aux jack and harness. I wanted to put it where the airbag switch was as well but when I got the dash opened up it's a decent sized module under the plastic so I decided to keep it there and just tuck the aux jack in behind the radio, I then ran a normal stereo extension to my iPhone mount on my dash and that seems to work just fine. I think your original concern was if the aux jack would be able to be wired to the '07 radio, the answer to that is yes, if you have the whole aux jack with the harness it should just plug in right beside the speaker harness.
Hope that helps.
