Maybe you can make a spacer to get it to fit.

A 6x9 will usually crank out more bass than a 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speaker but that's it.

I have 6x9s in my front doors with 75 watts to them and they sound great. I just took a cut off wheel and started cutting til they fit. If your not plannin on amping them then dont put 6x9s, they take power to get good sound out of them. 6.5s will have alot better sound with alot less power.

And with 6x9s your doors will shake like a *****. If you want bass just get a sub.

John. There is a how to for the 6x9 mod. Take a look at that then decide. If you want more bass then sub it. If you want crisper sound buy some quality speakers such as Kicker, Polk audio, Alpine etc. Any thing is better then stock. You can "amp" if you will the speakers for louder, crisper sound. Spend the money and buy some good speakers. Be it 6x8 or 6x9 you should be happier without stock.

I cut up my doors and changed out the 5x7's to 6x9's all around, it sounds much better. These guys are right though, if you want more bass, even an 8" bazooka tube will be better than the 6x9's.

No, size of the speaker doesn't matter and build quality and engineering are usually more important. However, a circular cone is going to be more rigid and have lest physical distortion under high stress than an oval diaphragm will.

When talking about Co-Ax's, it is usually a non issue. However, there are more high quality 6.5's (both co-ax and component) available than 6x9's and there is a reason for this. More or less, though, if SQ isn't a top priority then you wont care that the 6.5's have a little less distortion.

Personally, I switched my truck to 6.5's. Some jig saw work and some dremel work to the door panel and I have a hole that more drivers of higher quality will fit in. 6.5" is pretty much the standard midbass size.

as far as the OP's question goes, no, they will not fit with out modification. 5x7's will with an adapter plate (which is usually included with the drivers).

If you can only buy a piece at a time, start with a good 2 channel amp that can be bridged to run a sub. A good 10" usually will suffice in a ranger. then later you can buy a better mono amp and use the 2 ch for better front speakers. I don't waste money on rear speakers as I only use them for fill ( not even ampped) Buying quality slowly is better than settling for marginal all at once.

Werd & there is actually no need for rear speakers at all. After all, it is a stereo.
