okay, total audio n00b, tons of questions

ok guys. so first off i want a sub in my future. only problem is i still want to be able to fully recline my seats and still use my jump seats. i cant do a center console because its a stick. so help me out in that deparment please.

also, my mom is wanting to know what i want for christmas. i want a new headunit and rear speakers. i just need to find a low priced but still an ok system since my parents arent rich. and a good speaker brand would help.

thanks guys, i hope you can answer these

you can do a center console, you just have to have a custom shiftboot made for it.

get a slanted sub box or build your own

get a 100 dollar JVC hu and spend money on good quality speakers, like Infinity Kappas or some Kickers

Infinity Kappas are bad *** speakers, get them.

Get on Crutchfield: LCD TV, Car Stereo, Home Theater, Speakers, Plasma TV and check out what they have. Around x-mas time they should have some bad *** deals.

alpine type 2 speakers and cheap and they sound reall good w. or w.out and amp. as far as a head unit i like any alpine. MAKE SURE YOU GET A HEADUNIT WITH AT LEAST 3 PRE OUTS!!!!!! because if you want to run a 4channel and a sub you need 3 preouts. spend a lil extra money for a good headunit.... you only want to but one once. if you go cheap then you wont get the features you want... the alpine cde-102 is about 180 but it DOESNT have an ipod hook up. or the apline cda-105 has the 3 rca pre out and ipod hook up and its only 230 and will last you forever!!!! if thats a lil too much then jus look for a stereo with 3 pre outs and the high speed ipod cable so you can control it from the radio and it charges your ipod as well. not through a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (head phone lack) cable where you plug it into the headphone jack.... pm me with any questions man i dont care how rediulious they may be... we all start out new.... good luck

Agreed, the 3 pre-outs and iPod cable are worth the extra money for it, even if you don't think you'll use them now.

My Sony CDX (plod series) is fantastic - you dont need an ipod control if it already ahs a USB reader and 1/8" Aux on the front. Mine controls USB/Thumbsticks/Gneeral USB devices perfectly, has great soudns output - and is in general, amazing! picked my own up for around 170 though give or take.. or was it 239? Ugh, it cost a tad bit

Just make yourself happy - and get one with USB and 1/8" on the front - dont go with less, or youll kick yourself for not doing it.

Except that the aux input won't charge it or let you control it from the dash and the USB won't let you control it either (at least on my sony it wouldn't). I hated my sony unit but it was a 5 year old POS so thats probably why lol

i would say $100 for a head unit. i know that nearly nothing but if i was going to ask for anything more than that i would ask for a new truck lol. i dont care if its poor quality. all i will be using is the radio. maybe i should just stick with new speakers??

I got an 8" 300 watt puch sub from Crutchfield for $80 from their "scratch and dent" section... I could not find a thing wrong with it and even if it had some blemishes no one will ever see it.

I made a sealed box for it and mounted my amp to it and put the whole shebang in the center rear.

Here is a pic:

I can still use my jump seats, sorta as long as the person using them is pretty small.
