alright. i am building a system in my 04 ext cab ranger. i think i finally have decided on everything i need for it(subs, hu, speakers, and box) except the amps.

Here is a list of the goods:

the main ingedient the head unit - got this at best buy for $100 as an open item

Subs - 2 Kicker CVR 10's 2ohm

Boxes - im pretty sure these will work with the kickers.

Front speakers w/ tweeters - ive heard nothing but good things about this component set

Rear speakers - i got these at best buy, but i just noticed thir impedence is at 4 ohms while everything else is at 2. will this be a problem?


My final question is, Will all of these items hook-up without a problem?

Take the rear speakers back and get something that matches with the 2 ohm separates if you plan on running them in the same four channel. I'm not totally sure, but have been told it could cause issues if they are not the same impedance.

Your subs will work in the boxes you mentioned if they are going to be sealed. You'll need a bigger box if you are going ported. (I myself like sealed for better sound quality.) As far as an amplifier. Look for a two channel amp that will do 300W-400W per channel in FOUR OHM load. This way, you can wire each sub into a four ohm load and use one per side of the amp.
For the four speakers, try to get another set that matches the RMS handling of the front pair that is two ohms and get a 4ch amp that puts out about 100W per channel in a 2 ohm load.

In response to your question, everything seems like it would be fine (excepting the 4ohm rears). The best way to go is to get good quality amps (save and go without if you have to) that have an RMS rating close to that of the speakers you purchased. Many people fail to do this, but if it is done right, the system will last you for years provided you don't go overboard with the volume ****.

Of course if you really wanted it simple (less wiring and components to hide) get a 6ch amp that is two ohm stable and puts out about 100x4 @ 2ohm and 150X2 @ 2ohm for the subs and dump one of your subs. (One is easier to hide than two....) Right now, I have the single dvc 8" in my truck and (depending on tuning) I can make that thing hit like a hammer. And it's only using 100W per channel.

first off thanks for answering. i know for the most part how to install most of this stuff, but im still trying to teach myself how to match amps and subs and speakers and the likes...

ok, now on to the business at hand. would this amp work for the subs in the back. if not am i getting close to what i should be looking for?

or maybe even this one?

and for the front i was thinking this amp

im pretty sure im going to stay away from crutchfield. hoping to spend less $$$

It's fine to run different loads to different channels. Although I would keep 1-2 and 3-4 the same as I'd assume you only have one gain control for each set of channels. I'm running 4 ohm tweeters off 1-2 and 8 ohm mids off 3-4 in my truck.

I would imagine finding a class D amp that does 600W-800W at 2 ohms would be a whole lot cheaper than finding a class A/B amp that would.

A 5 channel might be work better since many companies make 5 channels for this specific setup. The sub channel has more power on it to compensate.
