Question about Silverstars

i went ahead and amplified my 5x7 Alpine Type S door speakers (front ones) and it turned out great, really good highs and mid bass.

the only problem i have is when the volume is at 0, or on pause, i hear a buzzing sound, i guess u call it engine noise, and it goes along with my RPM speed. the higher the RPM, the higger the pitch of the buzz

what could be causing this and how can i fix it? i just mite go insane listeing to it anymore. thanx

i haev that problem with my Cb also it has something to do with ur ground wire the way it's ran

FoMoCoFiddy Nov 22, 2004 10:15 PM

yep, its the ground, ground it closer to the amp...

the ground is basically right beside the amp. like literally. i was thinking that the power could be touching a speaker wire, or an RCA could be touching a speaker wire....i'll just fudge with it and try stuff

Make sure all signal wires are at least 2-3 inches away from any power wiring (including all wiring in the truck). Make sure your ground is good with all the paint scraped off where it is bolted. You might have to upgrade your signal wires for something with better insulation.

Also when running signal or speaker wires, you want to twist them to help prevent crosstalk and interference. Simply put one end in a cordless drill and give it a few pulls for a nice twist all down the wire length. If you are using a Line converter to convert speaker wires to RCA that would also be highly suspect. Check it's ground, if any, and you might also consider upgrading any RCA wires for better insulation/'noise rejection.
