I am thinking of relocating my amp to my toolbox. Has anyone else done this and have you had any issues? I plan to build a small amp rack to somewhat keep it shielded if the toolbox is opened in inclement weather.

 

That can be a good idea and it cant be. If someone breaks into your toolbox then they see your amp and they can still it. Unless you put wood all around it and drilled holes for the installation cables in the back so no one can tell its an amp

 

In the summer you might have to worry about overheating

 

why dont you just keep it in the cab? less of a hassle to go through...

 

I am concerned about heat. May install a fan.

I just want to clean up the cab and I like to be different.

 

It works fine for me, i just attached in to the lid with a whole tube of JB weld...its not coming off even if some one trys to take it lol. just leave some extra wire in case you need to make adjustments.

 

what happens if it blows or you need to take it down for any reason, are the fuses accessible from the sides, i know on one of mine they are only accessible from the bottom.

 

i want to do this too because my amp and cap are huge.even when its hot it hasnt gotten hot enough in my toolbox to melt my wax, or my deodorant thats in my gym bag so i think an amp would be ok maybe with a small fan to keep the air circualating a little bit.

 

ya everything is assessable form the sides. in hasn't gotten too hot but i don't usually run it to hard during the day, it dose just fine running hard at night.
In the winter at melts the snow off tool box lid where it is so that a little plus... less snow to remove lol
