audio problem

hey audio people! I need help. ok I have a sony head unit different speakers and an amp. They have all worked fine in the past. I use an aux cord to plug my mp3 in. one day while listening to the mp3, it started cutting out. At first I thought it was the mp3 player so i checked it by not listening to the stereo and using just headphones. The mp3 was ok. Then I thought the cord might be shorted out and so i got a new cord. After the new cord didnt do anything i was messing around and the mp3 will play at low volume but if i turn the volume up it starts cutting out. So what does this mean?

yeah, i tested all the speakers, thought they mighta blown and it wasnt them so it just about had to be the radio. Now my radio stations never picked up with this player any idea why, could it be related?

ok so i took out the cd player thoguht for sure that was the problem, but to be sure i took another cd player and put it in, and it did the same thing. So now I am thinking it is the amp. Any way to check. Everything is wired so that it goes through the amp so i cant just unplug the amp because then nothing works. Any ideas?

I say double then triple check all your connections. If you spliced in any of the wiring going to the speakers, it's possible that the connection is failing.
