Audio system upgrade help
new to the ''field'' of modding an audio system ...
help me out here guys ... I want it to be louder. I know I need an amp and more powerful speakers. What else do I need? I'd love for the bass to be really making my passengers' heads explode ... I listen to alot of music with double-bass. NO RAP. Mostly classic rock, and newer stuff.
here's a sample.

(it may not seem great at first, it gets better, i swear, lol)
Listen to my song.
So, what do I do? and can you guys give me a rough estimate? thanks a * * * *load in advance.
it's a 2005 ranger xlt, FYI

get a nice new headunit... maybe an indash touchscreen DVD player one... then get some good speakers for the doors and the back... pioneer makes ones made especially for fords and mazdas and they pump awesome
then get yourself two 10" subs... 10's sound better for rock IMO

A new head unit, components in the front, 2 or 3 ways in the rear for fill. 2 amps, 1 4 way & 1 2 way, 2 10" subs & enclosure. Heres a link to my sight with my system, might give you some ideas. : http://mysite.verizon.net/res1c0ed/ricksrides/id13.html

you can get a Kicker 700.5 5channel amp for about 300, 250 for a nice set of Pioneer Premier comps, nice amp kit about 60 thats at $610
do you have an extended cab or regular? let me know and I can put togther a sub combo to work for you. BTW just getting a nice set of Component speakers up front with 150-200RMS to them will be superb. completely forget about any rear speakers. if you are shooting for decent imaging, nice treble, great midbass, and so on i can lead you the right way.
What kinda deck are you looking for? screen or just a nice headunit?

Extended. However, behind my seats is all wiring for my lights ... my auxillary batter is also back there. I'll be getting everything re-wired professionally on the 27th of March, so if you'd like I can get some pictures up.
One of my buddys' today told me to put subs underneath the seats. I don't know if that'll fly in my truck, but, we'll see.
so what are ya thinkin for subs?
just a nice headunit. I have too many things to play with in my interior already.

you can do a nice kicker L7 10 in a prefab ported box for about another 200, so $810 so far for a capable system. as far as a deck you can run a nice pioneer or alpine for about 2-250 or spend an extra 300 and get a nice kenwood double din indash DVD player. if you need any links, just pm me and we can figure it out for you.
If he wants nice SQ with some bump shouldnt he go with like TC or FI? RE? Those would be my picks. I would also check out the Pioneer DEH-6800MP. IT IS AWESOME. Has all the equilizer bands that youll need for rock.

used all of them before. i like the FI SX subs for the budget and many of the TC subs sound just the same. i have dealt with multiple setups and depending on his price range i am sure i can get him what he wants. i think about 10 ppl on this board can chime in.
