LCD screens

Is it possible to find a 7 inch LCD screen that has a VGA input or could I make it have a VGA input. Also would the resolution of the screen handle the the resolution of a laptop computer. I don't mind turning the resolution down. I have an old laptop that the screen no longer works on, but the machine runs great. I was thinking about putting the machine in my truck. Lets just say that Johns tuffbook in his truck inspired me. I'm more interested in movies and mp3's and a few other ideas. If anyone knows of a screen that will work let me know. Thanks
-Luke

Screens either come with a VGA port, an RCA port, or both. It really depends on the resolution (and cost) of the unit. One with just an RCA port will display at TV quality, which generally gives up to 800X600 with a computer attached before the image becomes unreadable.

You could get a VGA to RCA adapter and be able to plug in the PC, but you will have to use lower resolutions. Remember, the inputs are generally geared towards the resolution the unit can display. A unit with an RCA input won't have nearly the pixel density of one with a VGA port.

I only want a screen. I am pretty sure that tv quality will be just fine, but does anyone have an idea of how much a screen will costwith or without a VGA port. It doesn't need a houseing or anything. I only need the screen to put in a fiberglass center console.

Awesome!!!! Thats a great link. I'm really inspired to make this work. Hopefully this summer after I buy tires there will be money for a screen. Thanks for the help George. Do you know if their warrentie covers dead pixels for a year too. Or if there is another stipulation.

I doubt they have a dead pixel warrenty, but you can always ask. Mostly, it's the high end stuff that comes with that type of warrenty. They will probably swap it out if you have dead pixels when in comes in, but I doubt they will after a year. You can always ask. The techs at that company are very helpful.
