Blowing my friend's doors in.
Alright guys so my friend has a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Regular Cab. He also has the infinity sound system in it. He just added 2 Kicker Comp 10" subwoofers with an Alpine 80 Watt Amp. Naturally, he thinks he's the coolest cat on the block and according to him he without a doubt has the best system in town. It honestly doesn't sound too great.
Now, my goal is to figuratively blow his doors in. I want my truck to sound twice as good as his does. I have a budget of $1000 and I need a new head unit, 4 speakers, 2 subwoofers, and 2 amps. I am going to make the sub box myself so that's not a problem.
I'm asking if you guys could throw some system ideas my way. I have researched all around and I just cannot make a decision. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again guys.

why two amps? more of a waste than just one amp.
I agree, even though I have about 1200$ in my system I would never spend what I did on the subject again. going from what I have, you'll need more than two cvr's and a 1000 watt amp although, my subs will rattle your brain hahaha.

That's why I got a sub that just accents them a little haha. I think incredibly loud bassy systems are overrated but OP if it's what you want go for it!

I just got the Infinity Basslink. Easy to install, userfriendly, and is perfect for metal imo. Just adds a little punch with the bassdrum but can pound pretty hard if you want it to. Plus its fairly inexpensive.
The sound I was going for was how the stock explorer system with the sub sounds, just balanced really well overall.

Damn! 150 out of a ranger.. props man!
Check out the Soundstream Tarantulas for subs. They'll beat your brain out of your skull if you do it right. And as for speakers, look into Hertz, they sound amazing, and Hertz Diechi series are made to run on stock power. If you can afford them, go with the Hertz Millies, they're the best sounding speakers i've ever heard, and I work at a pro mobile audio shop, but at $800 for 2 , they're a budget killer . As for head units, I'm partial to Kenwood Excelon, but Alpine is good too.

iv heard that SS has gone down some. IMHO the DC lvl 3 is going to be better than the SS. and i like pioneer H/Us, alpine is great too and iv heard good things about kenwood also.
