pics of overhead flip-down monitor?

does anyone have any? i'm trying to figure out whether i should just go with one flip-down (either 5 or 7") or just do the visor lcd's
I'm worried the flip-down might look odd though because there's an indent in all of our roofs and it's not flat..

id rather have it in the visor. a little more subtle. is there any place you could put it in your center console?

Do you really think you have enough ceiling? I would think you couldnt ever sit far enough back to see it.

But to answer your question, I have never seen one in a ranger or anything else for that matter that wasnt at least a crew cab or van.

Id suggest either a folding monitor in the dash or one in the visor. Seems like the best options to me. You could get really creative and build a fiberglass enclosure and put a monitor on top of your dash, but that would be kinda awkward.

I installed 7" lcds in both visors in my 03 ranger. the lcds wouldnt fit in the standard ranger visors, so I used explorer visors with the lit mirrors (thicker, fit the lcd perfectly).

its mostly the thickness thats your problem. i had mine reupholstered after i cut the area for the lcd too. you could try unwrapping the ranger visors, whether theyre headliner material or vinyl, install a 1/8" or 1/4" plastic or wooden plate thats sized to fit the visor and cut it out to give the visor more depth, and then rewrap the entire visor. might be more complicated than youre willing to deal with though...

and fyi... i found the donor explorer visors from a local junkyard in great condition for $20 for the set. if you have any local jy's around, that might be another option.

I had a concept 7" flip down in my ranger, it fits, but it is a bit tight. the visors had to be forced back onto their little hanger things and you couldn't go too far down because it would hit the mirror. honestly i liked it, but i think the monitor was still too small, then again it's not like you have any more room to fit one any bigger. personally i'd go in the visors, mroe subtle and the monitor would be closer and easier to see.

I remember his! that thing was huge, i am sure it was no good for offroading as it would probably always swing down whenever he hit a bump

hmm. ok well definitely not doing a flipdown.

what about the visors.. they sell visors with the monitors installed already.. anyone have any experience with these? I would have them re-upholstered if I did that

No experience with the pre-installed replacement visors, but I can tell you that installing your own is not that hard. As long as you're not afraid to do a little cutting. Just remember, if you mess up, a new visor is not expensive at all. I just picked up a pair of lighted mirror explorer visors in the right color off EBay for $10.
