Well, I ran both pair of subs about a year (lightning audio first year I had my system, and p1's the second year I had my system) and had the gain up nearly all the way without a problem, then I run them (lighting audio's) a week in the ranger and mess one up. I wonder if I have the bass on the radio half way, and the gain on the amp half way, if the bass signal getting sent to the amp is kinda getting messed up when the amp tries to amplify it? I wonder if I should turn the bass on the radio down almost all the way, and turn the gain up more........I wonder if that would help any, cause then the amp wouldn't be amplifying already amplified bass signals?

I usually run the gain on the amp around 3/4 and bass boost off. I don't like distortion

Bass boost is NOT a volume control

go one caraudioforums.com and search for the gain setting tutorial, it will make it so you will never have any problems with your amp or subs
