bypass factory amp?

Looking to hook up an sony hu into my 95 ranger and it has a remote factor amp. I dont believe. Its needed any more due to the new head unit having 50*4 built in. Question is, do i have to bypas the amp or can i wire the new unit inro it? Doesnt seem safe to have power feeding an amp

Its best to bypass the factory amp. The amp bypass harness should be a Metra 70-5605 Amplifier Bypass Harness. (Always double check my part numbers)

Most Rangers DO NOT have a factory amp. Factory amps can handle High level inputs, so hooking it up directly should not be a problem.

We want to bypass because power output is NOT additive. For example, if you Head Unit puts out 22 Watts RMS per channel and the factory amp 16.5 Watts RMS, all you have is the last thing in line, which is 16.5 Watts RMS.

I know where the amp is in the 93 and 94 (my 93 Ranger had an amp). It was located just above the right rear speaker. Not sure about the 95
