Camera was dimmer at night

After much searching for an answer as to why my backup camera was dim at night, I found that the illumination wire in the 2DN radio wiring harness is connected to the dash lights. So when the lights are on, the radio screen is dim at night. Without that dim process my bright radio is really distracting at night. However, I wanted my backup camera at night to be brighter with a sharper image. I have an economy radio and an economy camera. So I'm sure that higher priced radios and cameras must have systems that provide top quality camera vision at night and in day light whether the screen is dim or not. My solution was to use a relay to get a brighter camera screen at night. When the reverse light comes on, the relay breaks the dimming current to the radio and allows the screen's backup image to be bright. At the moment that I shift out of reverse, the relay allows illumination signal to go to the radio and result is a dim radio screen.

There might be a better way and a dim camera screen might not be an issue fort most. It might not help all cameras, but mine is much better at night.
