CB Radio Question
I'm putting my CB out of my cavalier into the Ranger and I'm curious if anyone has any ideas/suggestions on how i can hide my antenna wire....
|
all the interior trim pops right off and then back on
depends on where you are going to mount the antenna as to how best to hide the coaxial cable my antenna is mounted in the front passenger stake hole on the bed the wire runs up though a grommet under the passenger seat to the CB which is mounted behind my console |
Well, before we can suggest routing for the coax, we need to know where you are putting the antenna.

i actually like blue's idea on mounting....that sounds pretty good...i want it somewhere that's not in the way, not too visible, but still has good reception...
|
would it be hidden? IM not into looking like a Semi Truck, but that's just me.

Neil (lil blue) has a pretty nice setup with the antenna in the stake hole. My only suggestions would be to put it behind the driver rather than the passenger. Less likey to clip low branches an stuff hanging on the side of the road.
|
hey neil, do you have a good clear shot of your antenna setup???
|
I will have to take a shot of the antenna mount as I do not seem to have any close ups
here is the firestik stake hole mount I used + a 6" spring I put it on the passengers side since I am usually riding alone and the instructions advise that you mount it as far away from the operator & passangers as possible the antenna does put out some strong radio waves not sure if it matters since I usually have the mobile phone pasted to my ear and I suppose that is just as harmful :blackeye: - again studies are inconclusive, but I do know remote phones were 3 watt and all hand helds are only .6 watt - and that was before digital existed even hand held CB and marine band radios have to operate at lower power manufacturers don't want us frying our brains and coming back to sue them... |
thanks for the pic...as well as the lesson in radio waves and their adverse effects...lol...seriously though, thanks alot

OK - went to my photo archives and found a few pictures of the antenna
mine is at a bit of a rake off the side of the truck - SonicRanger001 shimed his out so it is straight and I probably will do mine too Attachment 214391 Attachment 214392 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ntennashot.jpg |
