I-Pod docking/mounting/wiring

So, here is what I have now.

It's running off of the tape deck, and plugged into a USB port on the power inverter. I ran the wires behind the stereo. The Ipod is zip-tied to my charger for my GPS and it holds up very very well, even off-roading on very bumpy terrain.
I am getting ready to hardwire my GPS behind the dash, so I will lose my "docking station" for my Ipod.
Any suggestions how I should mount it after I hardwire the GPS? I'm not interested in buying an aftermarket headunit, so the power inverter to charge it is going to have to do for now. I'm not against hard-wiring that either, and hiding it somewhere else.
Anybody have pics of how they have theirs mounted? Where to find a good docking station that can be easily mounted without destroying my dash, and will withstand the jolts and bumps that come with off-road fun?
Suggestions? Ideas? Pics please
Ooo, keep in mind, I use the Ipod to work out with, so it needs to be easily removed and replaced.

There is no reason you have to lose your ipod dock. Just go buy a cig lighter at walmart and splice it into the the current one. Mount it behind your dash and plug your GPS into that.

Thats what I did because I wanted access to both power supplies, and I didnt want the nasty power supply sticking out of the dash.

Nods, I have the new cig lighter to hide behind the dash. If I plug the gps into that, I will lose my little docking station, because my gps plug is what my ipod is zip-tied to. Need some kind of custom bracket or something to hold the ipod in place so it's not just laying around on the floor. I'm trying to keep it clean and not have wires showing everywhere. I've thought about hiding the power inverter in the ash tray, cutting a hole in the back of it to put a cig lighter in there, seeing as I am a non-smoker, would work fine.

Nope, one of the original nano's. No camera, that came out right after I bought it.
