Why wouldnt this fit

According to crutchfield they say it doesnt fit rangers but it fits a double din with a 4 inch tall opening. Now a buddy at work has this exact some one and i took measurements and its the same size as the opening in my ranger 4 inches tall by 7 1/2 if i remember right inches wide. I plan on buying something similar this summer because i really want the navigation but i dont like those ones that flip up plus most of them are just as expensive if not more than to something similars as the one in the pic

hm.. i donno.
y dont you take his out and try it in yours?

If you do get it, and it fits, let me no. I have been looking around at navigation systems for a while now. Prob a lot of wiring for it as well.
how much is that anyway?
like 2,000?

It might be the mounting plate...there may be a problem....??? Honestly, it SHOULD fit., but i have no experience. Go hit up like Car toys or whatever your local stero shop and see what they have to say.

Evan that head unit cost about 900 on crutchfield but the navigation unit you will have to shop around to find my buddy said he paid like 400 on ebay for it.

Shane i have asked around a few places but they wont tell me anything other than yeah they can fab it to fit but would want Lots of $$$. But they wont give me a straight answer if it will just bolt in or not. I guess i will have to try and see if my buddy will take his out then try and put in mine.

our space is not 2 din

i believe it's like 1 7/8 dim or something

guest knows a way to shave down and do some fab to make those fit...it takes a little work though

why not go with a carputer

i see all these people wasting money on navi systems when they can get a carputer for 3/4 the price, and the carputer does 10x more things. And it uses esentially the same screen, or you can get a flipout.

i was thinking about a carputer...but it's oging to be SO freaking expensive just to get it to the quality of a H/U (especially an active setup)

i'd rather just get the alpine cda 9855 or whatever it is (the active one) and call it a day...put the extra money from the carputer into a bike or something else. I really only use navi for when i go on trips...and i can use my computer for that.

mapquest ftw!!!

btw, i found out it would cost over 2400 dollars to go active on a carputer (thats with the screen, external processors, everything) thats a little much...i'd rather do some electrical upgrades and stuff

so x-nay on carputer for me...

You know its funny cause i wanted that same H/U but didnt get it simply because it said didnt fit but now i am kicking my self cause even if it wasnt exact match a little work would go a long way in putting that snazzy piece o equipment in. I say get it and even if it does take a little work it will be well worth it.

the computer itself isn't the problem...it's the sound processing...i'm an audio freak. I need at least 5.1 and 5 sets of preouts (for an active fronstage )

i doubt many people on here can fab up a mounting bracket...they have a lot of intricacies in them. Just looking from the ones i've installed.

It can be done, no doubt, and i'm pretty sure that with a few snips and sanding it would work fine, but many people on here don't know the art of glassing or bondo or any combination of both (btw, I don't know either )

making amounting bracket shouldnt be that hard for me we have the steel and a press brake at work. I am going to keep an eye out on bezels and pick up 2 incase I screw up one I will have another one to make it perfect and if I were to ever want to I would have the stock one to turn it back if needed. I think i am going to save up the cash and get me one and make it work. A carputer would be nice but I dont know much about home computers let alone carputers and I probably just spend twice as much in part and be stuck trying to figure out how to get it all to work.

That's cool I understand...But after you shave down that upper lip...I am just wondering if it will look "normal" or if you have to use bondo and sand it all down? I assume that if you did 3 in one day...you don't have to do any of this to make it look good. I assume you meant that you "trimmed to fit" 3 in one day?

Do you work at a "big box" store (Bestbuy,Circuit City etc.)? Or are you at a stereo install shop? Just wondering if I am able to take it to a place like Best Buy and have them do it, or if they will not shave the bezel.
I am going to be picking up the new Pioneer AVIC-Z1..and I think it's best to have a shop install it.
