Cracking sound coming from 3 of 4 speakers

i get this awful cracking noise from 3 of my pioneer speakers, are they blown or something? i have them hooked up to a $100 pioneer hu... and i dont know what could be wrong! umm but i can say that the speakers work, but sometimes they just start cracklying, when i hit bumps mostly, i was thinking my wiring might be messed up, but its the stock wiring soo i really dont know... can some one help me out

check your connections on the back of the speakers... make sure they aren't accidentally touching each other, and make sure they're really connected good. they may have been blown... have they been doing this since you put them in? or did it just randomly start...?

like 2 months after i put them in, and i got them in april

yeah my guess is.. its your radio.. or you have wires touching somewhere.

Do you have access to an Digital Multi Meter? Set it on ohms and place a probe on each speaker lead. Your speakers should measure 4 ohms (+ or - .2).

Sounds like someone is getting new speakers soon. That noise is usually going to be caused by partially blown speakers.

LivnFastForward 11-14-2006 11:55 AM

My stockers sounded like that they were blown.

My front speakers do the same thing, they are going in the trash soon.

my stock speakers did the same thing and so do my pioneers. it only happens when its cold outside. and to fix the cracking sound, all i have to do is shut off my hu and turn it back on but it will come back eventualy.

my thought is wires touching or picking up static signal from somewhere. is it like a white noise sound or crunching up a sheet of paper?
