not necessarily, just depends whether you prefer sound quality or pure volume. Sealed = SQ, Ported = SPL, that's about all there is to it. I'd go ported cause they sound just fine to me.

personally i do ported if its a car with a trunk ... otherwise sealed cause it sounds better in cab / hatchback to me and SQ is better

ported youll be heard blocks away

Sealed usually requires less air space for the sub to work properly, so it great for when you don't have alot of room, i.e., reg cab.

Sealed makes the bass tighter, cleaner. Ported makes the bass louder.
I put ported in a trunk, and usually go with sealed in a truck.

BTW, without enough air space, a ported box won't get loud. Example, the box in my truck, when configured with a port, wasn't as loud as when configured sealed, same dimensions on the box.

my previous setup was 2 infitini 10" reference

those blew up recently (lots of hours, ive had em for 3 years, 80k miles, and i got em used)

so now i have a kicker solobaric 15" (takes up lots of room but **** the passenger my seat still goes back all the way lol)

if you hook it up yourself study the hell out of the wiring cause they blow up easy if you put the wrong ohm load on em

as for the 3 years ... people are gonna call me on it since i bought my truck in APR 2008 ... they had been in my truck for a little over 1 and had been in my previous car which was a 96 integra coupe ... bought em in early 2006 and they stopped working last weekend ...1 shortly after the other.
