I have a 97 ranger single cab and i'm trying to put my memphis 12 in it. Not much room to work with i know lol. I recently made a box, but it was just too small and didnt sound good with speaker. if any of yall have any secrets or can throw me some help, it'd be appreciated.

Same thing here, I too have a 97 ranger single cab and am looking for a way to have a single 12 or even a 10 in this truck without cutting a hole in the back of the cab. For a total stealth install i was thinkin about cutting a hole in the floor and having an enclosure welded in from underneath. Has anyone ever thought of that and tried it?

Nah it's all good. Being in car audio for the past 30 years I've seen a lot of dumb **** people have done to there cars. This was a serious question as I have a very creative imagination and that helps in the audio world. Simple minds stick to the norm and that's usually what you get is normal.

I was hoping for a creative and serious answer. nevermind gee wiz..

 

I used to be "in to" car audio many years ago. I have seen boxes built underneath floors. Welded boxes lined with MDF, sound deadening matt, fiberglass, whatever. Not sure how well it sounded, but the idea was to save space and get points at shows. Anyway......

I have a 10 in my 98 reg cab. I put deadening matt on the back wall and then used MDF on the other sides. I messed up the face and made it a smidge too long. I didn't realize I was F'd until it was glued in place with liquid nails. I used spray foam to seal the gaps. Just cut/sanded it all smooth. I used the factory carpet from the back wall to cover the face. I then painted the grill tan. The sub is mounted low in the box so even with the armrest down it's not super easy to see. Since I know where I messed up, I am thinking a smashing it out and trying again. The good thing is that I think I only lost maybe an inch or so of leg room. The amp is mounted behind the passenger seat. I move the jack behind the driver side. It just stands up and it boxed in by the sub box, back wall, side wall, and the seat. I need to find a better way to do it. Just need time......and a friggin Torx wrench(?) to get the seat out. The box goes from plastic panel to panel in the back. I really want to cut these, but don't have replacement ones if we ever sell the truck. Then again, it the box is sealed to the truck......what does it matter?

I have a short cab 97 I raised the seats 1 inch and built a box that fit the entire back wall and used 1/4 plexi glass for back of box and used 2 10 kicker comps sounded great raising the seat just made room for amp under seat but it changed the bottom depth of the box an extra 1/2 inch could not use the arm rest anymore though
