Serious Amp Problem!

Alright..So I was just driving around today, with my fresh tank of gas..And all of a sudden, my bass cuts out to nothing. I turn around to check my amp..And the light that is normally green, is now red, and the subs aren't working at all. I hit up my local AutoZone, and asked them about it..Guy said it was probably the fuse. So I bought a 4 pack of fuses (Can never go wrong with some spares), put that in expecting it to work..And still, NOTHING. The light still is red, but when I first start my truck it's green, then changes to red. Above the light, it says "Pwr/Attn". Quite obvious..Green = Power, and Red = Attention, but what else should I do..? I let it just sit...For the 3 hours I got called in to come work..Went out to my truck hoping it was going to boot up, and still NOTHING. What could be wrong here? Thanks in advance for the help, and sorry for the lecture ha.

-Cory

def not the fuse cuz its still getting power

its one of two things and two things only

1) your sub is blown or wired wrong

2) Your amp is fried

Did you check the wires going to your sub? remote wire? ground? patch cables? Did you overload/head the thing?

don't feel bad, i melted two fuses today.

oh the joys of tuning, and going deaf.

i have no idea why it was melting the fuses, but it only calls for a 15amp fuse, i stuck a 20amp fuse in it, problem solved.

back on topic, i have to agree with pete.
you could also have a bad ground, but i don't think that would cause a problem like your describing.
check all of your wiring and make sure everything is tight and has a clean connection.

I agree with the pre runner guy, check all your wires, and make sure you have a good ground.

its going into protection/overload sequence thats means one of the wire is shorting out or grounding out simply ur amp gets too hot quick which ur amp is built with a protection device lucky you....check all ur wiring somewhere ur shorting out

X2 if it was a power issue it wouldnt be powering up. it is going into protection, which is a too low ohm or too high ohm, clipping(gain turned up too high, have you been messing with the settings?)or your amp is broken. what kind of amp and subs are you running, what size power cable and fuse

a good way to check your amp is unhook your subs and turn on the truck. does the amp stay on? if it does then both or one of your subs it fried... get out the multi meter and check the resistance of the subs. I had this happen to me with the same symptoms and it was my sub.

Hey I know what it is! Your gain is up too high. I remember you saying something about having your gain up high so it would hit hard. That's probably what is doing it.

Anyway... have you, OP, even looked at anything? Not to be a dick but it doesn't sound like you have actually checked any of the wiring. Pull the subs, check the connections, check your grounds (ground faults are a ***** and often overlooked, all it takes is a poor ground to give you hell), ect...

Report back to us on what EXACTLY you have checked and we can be more help, being vauge doesn't work... that is unless you are looking for a reason to upgrade, then hell call it blown and move on.

Yeah..I'm an audio idiot I guess. Oh well. Me and my buddy are checking over everything tomorrow. He said he'll take his amp out, and put it in my truck, and see if it runs..If not, then it's obviously my subs, correct? Well, that is, unless it's the ground like you guys are saying..I'll make sure to check ALL the wiring first..He knows what he's doing, at least compared to me :p
