Factory sub to Aftermarket HU

Ok guys, I have my new alpine hu waiting for me at home, I just looked at the back of my factory HU. How is the factory sub going to hook up to my new HU? It looks like I might need an adapter, do I? I just want to get a heads up before I get home and get it apart. Thanks

you should just need a wiring harness and it should work. you may need a premium radio harness. but i dont know i have yet to do a fx4.

Well I got the harness and everything installed but can't get any response from the sub. I guess I'll have to take it somewhere, I'm clueless now.

Well what kind of wires are leading to the factory sub? Are they normal RCA cables? or are they like just regular speaker wires? is there a remote wire for the factory amp? is there a factory amp that powers the sub or was it powered by the factory HU alone? Sorry for all the questions but just some information that I think would help everyone understand exactly how the stereo is wired up.

I think ford had a separate output for the sub on the Pioneer stereos.

I was going to ask the same question. There are four wires coming out of the factory head unit. I assume a power wire, ground and basically a positive and negative that act like a speaker wire.
