2004 Explorer stereo wiring help

I'm gonna be installing a stereo in an 04 explorer and I looked a tthe radio today and found some confusion. So there's the standard for harness, and then there is another plug with two wires, i think one was black/yellow, and one was gray maybe?
What is this extra harness for? IS that for an external subwoofer that came in it?

See this pic below showing the set of plugs. You can see the second harness, it has some RCAs, which, I guess if it IS for subs, will just get plugged into the sub out on the head unit? I'm thinking it might be right but I need verification.

I'm confused because this plug is the standard for, same as my truck, supposed to be for some explorers too.

Then there's this combo, with a narrowed main plug, and the harness for a factory sub.

Although the first picture I posted looks more like the fat plug with the extra plug, and not the narrow plug. Crutchfield shows narrow plug plus one for the factory sub, or the single fat plug with no sub. I'm a little befuddled.
