Theives are pissing me off! little help for me?

Well in the past 2 weeks 2 of my buddies F150's at school have gotten broken into and pretty much jacked everything they had ( both times didnt steal the radar dectors though??) 1st time my friend had his passenger window cracked and the guys reached and basically pulled and forced the window down, ended up taking gps, dvd player, subs amps and all that. They did leave BOOOKOOOO fingerprints and smudges all over the car but the cops didnt find a match i guess?

Well today my other buddy basically had the extended cab window ripped off completely and they stole all his ****. Pretty odd that this keeps happening between 10am-11am in a parking lot where people are CONSTANTLY going through and walking through, and it seems to happen at times when i was just there a few min b4!

ANYWAYS, im getting pretty paranoid of my truck and getting prettty sscared. It would be SOOO easy to jack my stuff its not even funny. If it was me i could be in and out of my car in a min or 2 with all my stuff, MY ? IS is there anyway i can make it harder to get out or something? its held in by like 2 screws! Can i put some screws that have odd heads on them or SOMETHING.... i cant afford an alarm at all so thats out but im really starting to sweat now!.

Rabid dog locked in the car always works. I take my dog with me everywhere. Once when my father met me somewhere (the dog know him well) he opened the door while I was getting something out of his truck, and the dog almost took his face off. Good security if you ask me... :)

^^ haha speaking of that, we knew a guy that kept his little foo foo dog in his truck (but it is a mean little booger) anyway we wanted to move his truck so he would be confused, and that dog was going crazy haha, but while barking at us he peed all over the seat. oops haha

Bolt it to the cab. Doesn't matter how, but don't have it attached to the panelling or anything that isn't SECURE. My new amplifiers will be bolted through the floor of the cab with some special fasteners.

(I read some of this in an oooold copy of CA&E many years ago and thought I would share. It has served me well [for the most part] for many a year.)

The obvious is not to put anything in there in the first place that you can't stand to be without.

The only other thing would be to save up and get an alarm. I did it on my Cherokee after having it broken into. They got my radio (no biggie) my gameboy pocket (which I missed until I got my SP) they left the huge amp box... but the one that hurt the most was me leaving my bagpipes in the night before and finding them gone that morning. That hurt.

Of course, all of this could have been avoided by me TAKING THE FACEPLATE OFF and NOT LEAVING THE CDs LYING EVERYWHERE. I brought it on myself actually. I knew better than to do this. I just got lazy. If you leave stuff where people can see it, it's like "blue light special in the Ranger department!" That is why my next project is to tuck the two 8's into the doors. I have ALWAYS tried to maintain a stealth system or at least make it harder to see when people walk by.

If you:
-have a 'plain jane' interior with minimal extras in plain site or do your best to hide/put away the extra stuff
-don't blast your system when you are close to your home/school or workplace (I sometimes need to remind myself of this one, but thankfully I live way back in the neighborhood)
-buy even a simple alarm that makes noise
-park in high foot traffic/well-lit areas (except for Louisiana or high schools apparently)
-(Big one) Don't put EVERY STICKER that came with your equipment ON YOUR CAR
Then that should seriously decrease your chances of a break in. Please understand that I'm not stating that you have done any or all of these things. This is just advice for anyone out there that would like to keep the stuff they own.

I also agree with bolting everything down as it ups the frustration of an easy swipe and they may leave. On the other hand, it may tend to tick the person off enough to damage your stuff. ('If I can't have it, neither will he.' type of mentality I suppose. I hate people like that.)

This is why the '59 stays in the garage. (That and it has no top right now...)

The dog sounds good too, but around here (think Hot Florida sun) some would break into your car to get the dog out...

Just my $0.02

Hope its worth something for others.
Best of luck,
-Chance

Video cameras seem to be getting smaller and smaller these days.So small in fact that cops are mounting them in the dash of 'bait' cars that they then park in high crime areas. The perps steal the cars and have no idea they're faces are being recorded on video.
It would seem as though it is much easier for them to match fingerprints when they have a face to go with them.

First keep it out of site, if they can't see it, they don't know its there to be stolen.

Second bolt everything you can down, if its sub, 1/2 inch bolts through the base of the truck to hold em down. Most criminals are just ****** and grab. If it don't move they move on.

Next alarms aren't that much if you can instal it yourself. After my truck got broken into I spent about 50 bucks for a cheap alarm that had a shock sensor, broken glass alarm, and door sirens. Was easy enough to install and cheap.

Good luck securing your stuff though, that's crazy they have stole that much stuff so far. Your school should do something about it. Isn't there any type of parking lot security at your school?

I got it last April. If I decide to put another stereo in my truck Im going to use those Torx with the dimple in them, but Im also going to leave some rusty razor blades in the dash.

With the way lawyers work today though Im going to need a disclaimer on my window that says..."by breaking into this truck you hereby waive any authority to sue me based on the injuries you will receive while attempting to enter said vehicle" or some nonsense like that. If fingerprints are too much for the police to check out, Im sure DNA and hospital records will help.

BTW has anyone mounted a receiver in the center counsel yet?

Ha haha thats funny, idk about anywhere else but in Louisiana, things dont exactly get done right or on time you know. seems like the only time i see campus security is when they are writing parking tickets, any other time they are MIA...

But like i said i been strapping the dvd player in with this metal strap stuff i got at a car audio store and its gonna be a biotch to get out now...i bolted the sub down but it aggervates me i gotta do all this stuff cuz ppl are lazy lozers that cant get a job and get things the right way

if you want my opinion. just do what a few of my friends did. make a "donation" to your local biker "group", and ask for a sponsor decal, put that in your window and they might think twice about screwing with your truck if they think you run with bikers.my dad is a retired angel and my mom has h.a. decals on her car, along with some kenwood and mtx stickers but she dont lock her doors and no one has ever tried to mess with her car.

Im sure he didnt mean for you to calm down. I think he meant to take your system or whatever else worth alot of value out of the truck until things at your school calm down some.
I would have to agree with him on that though. Back when I was in school, Several peoples cars got broken into and I knew my car was gonna be next so I took everything out of my car and sure enough that following week some numb nut busted out my window and got NOTHING. One reason I knew I was next was because everyones cars that were getting broken into were BMX Riders vehicles and I was a BMX Rider (We all rode together). So I acted before they hit my car and I got a good cop friend of mine to run the prints off of my car and it turned out to be an insider job (guy that rode with us all). I thought it kinda looked funny cause his car hadent been broken into or anything and he left his car unlocked all the time without tinted windows and had 2 12's in the hatch. So we all got together for a big BMX Ride and took him out in the woods and beat the living **** out of him and stole all his money in his wallet and split it all (He had around $1200 Cash on him probably from selling all of their ****). But since then, He has come clean and repayed everyone and is now in Virginia somewere.
But anyhow, Hope everything works out for ya man.

I would get an Alarm system in ASAP. You can get a decent system for less than 60.00 dollars that works and its not that difficult to install yourself.

If this is happening on school property have your parents contact your school board and your local news and ask why they cant protect property on school grounds during operating hours especially if they already have security. Ask them if it will take someone walking out to their vehicle and being assaulted or worse before they take action. This is the key as most schools are liable for the safety of its students for up to one half hour before and one half hour after scheduled attendance on campus. The last thing they want is Bad PR.

i know this is 2 weeks old but, the back strap wont do anything, i can rip a deck out with that on, the bolt that go into the deck are so small and the holes are such corse threaded they just pull out with a good yank. best thing to do is have comprehensive insurance on your truck and have your stereo written into your policy, and if they take your stuff, you get a new stereo. also if your box is bolted down and you total the truck and insurance buys it from you you cant go and take that back because it is bolted to the truck so it is considered "part of the truck" get a security system not an alarm, difference is a security system all your wires are taped up and hidden so you see nothing!
