Help finding hole in firewall for amp power
 

I need to find a place in the firewall that I can run the power cable through. It has been run through the quarter panel and down the door for years but now the door is starting to leak where the cable is. I have looked but havent seen anything so far. I have a 99 Ford Ranger. 2.5L 4Cyl.Auto. I currently have it behind the passenger seat but it can go behind either seat. Let me know if anyone has encountered this problem before.

go to auto parts store and get some gromits and drill a hole and install the rubber gromet that way the metel dont shave away at the wire.

Do it the right way the first time and the only time.

Pull the fuse box right against the firewall and pop 1-2 holes under that. Plenty of room and easy to access in the cab.

I like these heavy duty screw together type grommets, they are a lot more secure then a plain ol rubber ;) plus its almost guaranteed not to rub and end up shorting out on metal...at least where you ran through the firewall.

Pretty sure you can get them at any autoplace like autozone/napa/advanced auto and so on.. but heres a link to amazon.

I ran my old 6g wire through the grommet for the steering shaft. My 0g though I ran underneath the truck and drilled a hole in the back of the cab where the jumpseat used to be. Worked perfectly.

I've always ran my power wires through with the hood release cable

There is a hole that the rod from the clutch pedal goes through the firewall that is blocked up by a rubber grommet on the automatics... Thats where all my wires run through. look under the dash im sure youll find somethin

I ran my bigger one down along through the frame to the underside of where the already in-place grommets are near the backeat jumper seats, then pulled it up there.. since thats where I built my box and I saw no reason to have fat cables all underneath my rug if I didnt need them there.

i think i used the same one patrick did for my tailgate lock. it's just to the left of and slightly up from the clutch. aren't there some at the back of the cab also? under the carpeting.
