Help! Jammed CD in my MACH single CD radio

After 3 years of faithful service, my wife has managed to jam my MACH MP3 single CD player. We were driving around last weekend, and she puts some 80's disco crap in it, and now it's stuck.

Symptoms: Displays "NO CD" when you press the CD button
Does not eject when you hit the "EJECT" button.
Won't load another CD as the mechanism is in the Play position.

Anyone know if there's an emergency eject button, like computers have. Or is there a way to remove CD's that are stuck. I really like this radio, and I'm pissed that now my MP3 player is hosed. If I can't fix it, I'm going to buy the most expensive Alpine unit avaialable, and tell the wife there goes her Valentine's present.

Re: the Alpine & V-day gift.. Nice!

While it was the stock deck in a Nissan, not even Ford stuff, my buddy had this exact same problem. He was about to set up an appointment w/ his dealer and get it fixed when suddenly one morning the disc just spontaneously ejected! The same could happen for you.. Sadly in the meantime you can't enjoy the disco.. Exactly what CD was this anyhow?

It probably has some constant power going to it (clock, station presets)
How about fully disconnecting it for a couple of minutes then reconnecting and see it it resets itself and spits the CD out.
I that does not work I would take it out and carefully take it apart.
Did that CD have a label on it?

Hopefully it will cough up the darn thing, but I doubt it. I'm guessing it's one of those EL cheapo thin CD's that somehow got warped in the player. It had different crap from the 80's on it, so I guess it's one of those "Best of" Cd's.
The cheap ones are much thinner than a good data Cd, and can be prone to jamming a CD player. If I can just get my pliers on it, I'd gladly tear it out.

I'm hoping Wowak can help me out, since he works on the things. If not, Alpine here I come!

Edit: Neil, I'll give that a try, since I'm going to pull the unit tonight. Thanks!

Good luck with that. I would try disconnecting the battery and maybe it will just forget and spit it out.

LOL!

I had Alpine decks in my Escort and Isuzu, then went to Pioneer when their MOSFET amp units came out. Always liked Alpine the best though, very nice stuff!

You guys have to quit the Alpine suggestions, there's a stereo place on my ride home, and I'm weak
(must be all the radio stations I've been forced to listen to)

It is when the CD jams, and you don't want to listen to your Gibson belting out it's one lone song. I do admit the radio stations around Tampa suck in a big way.

one other thing u could try is take a pocket knife or some kind of knife and see if u could pry it out that way or a really small flat head screw driver... This happened in my moms escape with the six disc changer and all i had to do was stick a knife in "help" it out. if that dont work definatly try what neil said and if not enjoy the alpine

How close have you looked at the face, I know my HU has a little hole to "manualy" eject the cd. Or do what was said above and pick at it, when my last HU ate CD's I was able to get a grip on em' and get them out. That god for Best Buy's warrantee...

No hole for "emergency eject" that I can see. Just the 4 holes to remove the unit.
I'll try the power cycling and pliers tonight.

Yeah SilverTank ignore these Alpine fanatics and go with something better!

Go for the Eclipse head units, way better looking, packed with functions, and cheaper!

It's much sweeter than the Alpine decks, and to be honest the Alpine decks sorta aren't that great looking.. Unless you're into shiny lights and crap, then go ahead! The deck I have has MP3 and FRICKIN GREAT sub/amp controls! It can ever reverse the base on a song so when the base isn't supposed to hit it is, while the points where bases is supposed to hit it doesn't...trippy!
People compliment me a lot on this deck, for it is not used much for some reason; I haven't found eclipse head units in Crutchfield either, which is wierd. If you want I can get you a picture of what it looks like in one of our trucks.

disconnecting the power supply isn't a terrible idea, but I'd say you have a 10% chance of success with that.

If I was there, I'd pull the radio out, grab some torx tools and take the top cover off, you may be able to coax it out that way. (I just emptied out my truck for the weekend, so I don't have a similar radio to go look at just right now.

If it is fubar and you want to go with another factory unit, I can get you a good price on them (as factory units go,) but you'll have to come out this way some time to exchange radios, as we only sell factory stuff if we have a core of the same style radio.

Heh I spoke hyperbole, the eclipse isn't actually any cheaper. The Alpines are a lot cheaper, since the low model eclipse is $279 dollars i believe, and the lowest alpine should be around $100 I'd guess. And the most expensive Eclipse model is around a $1000, and I wouldn't be amazed if Alpine had a super sweet model worth $1000. But I've seen a lot( a LOT) of aftermarket head units, and eclipse beats the others ***. Also, Its much easier to see and you're truck can still be dark inside, as in there aren't a million lights on the head unit to make it look like a disco ball.

But, to each their own,

Aaron

I take back saying Alpine players aren't that nice looking. Here's good looking ones i found.
CDA-9851
CDA-9831
CDA-9833
CDA-9835
CDA-9830

Hmm..well I'll be damned, one costs the same with about the same functions, but the remote sure sucks. Everything else costs a crapload more of money!
Check out Eclipses remotes..god i love them..sorry can't find a pic but they're really thin ( a quarter inch tops) and about 2 inches by three inches. NOT the size of a tv remote!

who said anything about a tv remote? My remote for the 9833 sounds smaller than the one you have
