Wire amp to use factory speaker wires?

Gentlemen,

I am in the process of installing a 4 channel amp in my truck. The puropse of wiring this amp is to power all 4 door spears inside the truck. Initially I had planned to use new speaker cable to all 4 speakers. Upon actually trying to run the wire I have pretty much given up. It's a huge pain in the rear to route the wire through the factory cable routing.

I have looked all over every ranger forum out there and I can't find this answer. I want to wire it up to the factory speakers. I was wondering if cut the "factory wiring harness to head unit harness" and wire my speakers into the corresponding wires on the factory wiring harness adapter end, will that work?

Again I'm talking about cutting up the head unit to factory adapter and wiring the speaker cables from my amp to the factory wiring harness adaptor that would normally adapt to a pioneer HU. That would in effect do the same thing just use the factory wiring correct?

Once again I appreciate all the help!

I'm looking for this info too.. I haven't had any luck trying to run wires through the door grommets, anybody have any tips? And would the factory speaker wires handle say 75 watts RMS?

Going through the door grommets is a pain, I pull one side out of the door and then use a fish tape to get the wire all the wire through. You normally have to attempt it a couple times but in the end it makes the installation so much more cleaner.

Yeah.. I kinda have a feeling it's not a good idea to send 75 watts RMS through each stock speaker wire after taking a look at them. So I guess I will keep trying.

In Mike's case if I remember correctly he'll be running 40 watts RMS to each door speaker.. anybody know if the stock wires will handle that? I'm kinda thinking it's not the best idea but I'm not sure.

40 RMS might be safe, the sound quailty will be better with the upgraded wire though. I would just try again if it was me.

I just wanted to give an update...It is possible to wire to the factory harness adapter. The wire on that is 18ga so I don't think it's going to be a huge problem.

I finished up the install this weekend and it sounds much better than factory. I can only turn the gain up between 1/3rd and 1/2 way up before my speakers distort, however everything is much much clearer than it was before.

Thanks for all the help with this guys. I'll be adding a subwoofer to my system here shortly :)
