xm and radio
i went and put the XM in my ranger and its great. Occasionally i want to listen to the AM radio and when i do it seems like the channels are blocked by like a static noise I figure its because my XM is wired into the radio harness ( as it was by Best Buy) Is there some kind of filter i should put in there to get rid of that noise and the blockage of the stations ( particularly around tall buildings and in the city ) or will that interfere with the XM?

You just have to actually turn the XM unit off and wait 30 seconds. I have the direct FM adaptor too and that's the way it works.
Fooled me for awhile also.
The adaptor works by sensing power to the XM antenna and switching off the AM/FM antenna and connecting the radio to the XM modulator signal. To get it to switch back, you have to turn off the XM radio and wait for the caps in the system to discharge, then your AM/FM antenna kicks back in.
