sub is chosen; finally
After a couple of months of research, I finally came to the conclusion that I am going to get a single 10 JL W6v2.
I got quoted at westcoast autosound today for $400 for the sub and a sealed enclosure. The guy who works there is real chill and was not supposed to sell this sub for less than $400. So basically I am getting the box for free which is alright with me. I could tell just from the comparison of the W6 box to the W1 box, that this sub means business.
I put a lot of research into this instead of my normal impulse buy and came to the conclusion that the type of music I listen to, my current amp, and my loudness needs, would all be fufilled greatly with the W6.
I know that their are probably a lot of other brands(image dynamics, tc sounds, soundsplinter, re audio, ed audio, etc) that could probably compete well or even beat the snot out of the JL w6, but I owned a JL in my first vehichle and it was the bottom of the line and still sounded awesome. I'm willing to pay $400 for a sub that is close to top of the line for a very reputable company. I believe in the saying "you get what you pay for."
I will be purchasing and getting it installed along with my two sets of pioneer 3-ways, the week after christmas. Hopefully this will dramatically change my audio and hold me off from having to purchase another system for a very long time.
