could i port this box (design included)
im going for something out of the norm im gunna try a kicker 8 inch L7 but in a ported box i heard these were ungodly loud and i was wondering if i built this box (fits right between the seats up agaisnt the back wall) could i port it?
cuz kicker says .66-1.0 cubes ported and .33-.75 cubes sealed so id have to downsize the box a bit if i have to seal it but id like to try my hand at a ported box so if anyone could suggest a place to put the port and maybe even what size to make the port (square port not a round tube) any help will be greatly appreciated as ive never built a ported box before.

if you're gonna keep it sealed, the rule of thumb for the polyfill is about 1 lb. per cubic foot.. so you'd only need like a hand full of the stuff if you went with a sealed box instead..
and actually.. if you build that ported box properly.. you wont really lose any sq at all.. i was expecting to lose some with mine, but.. luckily didnt. as for the size of the port.. it sort of varies... easiest way to find out is to go to a shop and see if they recommend what size you'd wanna go with, etc.

i typed a rather nice reply ealier but my net decided it wanted to go down. so ill keep it simple this time.
ported will own sealed when properly designed. keep the tuning around 30-33hz for street beating and 45-50 for comps. that'll keep the peaks nice and low.
also dont forget to take the port and driver volume into account when designing a box.
