I want a good, ground shaking set up....

that won't break the bank. Currently I have a cheap Lightning audio 10", and cheap 4 yr old Jensen amp. It sounds like something that could have came stock in the truck. The sub is like 200w RMS and the amp is a 400w bridgable 4 ch. I know people who have 10-12" subs with less powered amps that put mine to shame, i know my set up is terrible, but what do i need to let people know i'm coming???? My buddy has a 12" and an amp, i'm not sure what his set up is, but it beats louder than mine when i had 2 10s. His brother had a 12" Flame Q with i think 1200w amp in a quad cab tacoma and it was rediculous!

I would like (1) 12", a good amp, and box.

I don't want the most expsesive stuff, but something that will beat!

What do you guys suggest, ya'll know way more than I do.

there's millions upon millions of different options out there.. before anyone can recommend anything, let us know a few things.. like, what your budget is.. also, what are your music interests?? (rock, country, rap, everything, nothing, etc..) what all will you be replacing? the subs.. subs with amp.. subs, amp, headunit?? which do you plan to upgrade.

Orions wont break the bank and will kick your ass and your friends, I recoomend two p12's or one H2 12 if you can afford that.

I'm lookin to stay under $500. I'd like to be well under that tho.... I listen to pretty much everything....at times i like to listen to some rap just so it will hit. I have the factory HU with the power level converter box.....I was only looking at a new sub and amp first, maybe a new HU later. I have 4ga. power wire and all other wires run, i just need the new amp and sub.....

I have a single Infinity Reference 1230W SVC 12" (rated 300W RMS, 1200W Max) and a Pioneer GM5000T amp w/ built-in 80Hz Low-pass Crossover (125Wx2 RMS @ 4-ohms, 190Wx2 RMS @ 2-ohms, 380Wx1 RMS @ 4-ohms). I have the amp bridged (380Wx1 RMS @ 4-ohms) and the sub in a custom ported box that I built, 2.0 ft^3, 4"x12.5" (D x L) round port, all hooked up with a $25 4-AWG wiring kit from Wal-Mart. All-in-all, I spent a little over $200 for the whole set-up, I installed it myself, and it kicks some major ass compared to other systems I've seen locally. It's not competition grade by any stretch of the imagination, but it only cost me $200 and it sure does beat some of the rice around here, ya know? The only thing I don't like about the amp is it's a class AB amp, so it gets kinda hot, but I also opted for a 2-year warranty, so I'm covered if anything happens to it. I listen to mostly bass heavy songs like rap and such, but I do like to listen to some rock songs now and then, and this setup keeps up with both very well. Make sure you run a decent quality aftermarket head unit, though. At first, I was running the stock HU and had to splice into the wires to put in a LOC for the RCA's. After I switched to even a cheapo HU I had lying around (Pioneer DEH-1100), it sounded SOOOOO much better. The music was louder and the sub hits SOOOO much harder...

My friend travis had a Memphis 350w classD amp and an original Audiobahn (not the new stuff, it's ****e) FlameQ 10" and it sounds awesome. Clean and hits hard. you can get one of those amps for about 200 used and the sub for probably under 100.
