Infinity Basslink Questions
Just wondering how I would hook it up to my head unit which has no provisions for it. I know people have hooked it up to the stock head unit I just dont know what I need to accomplish this. If it matters I am running a Panasonic CQ-5800U for my head unit, but like I said it has no provisions for system expansion. Well thanks for your time in advance.

you would have to tap into your rear speakers with a high to low converter.... you may wanna look into a new head unit. there cheap you can get em for like 80 or so.... high low converter will run about 15 or so but isnt the best thing to run for quality

If those are my only options can anyone recommend a good quality high low converter for this application. Also is that all I will need for this install other then the infinity Basslink?
Thanks for the fast responses. |
there is a kit that is used on OEM units to run subs, that's the kit you need, it will/should work on your deck.

If it's the original Infinity Basslink I'm pretty sure that it has speaker and line level inputs. The Basslink II only has RCA jack inputs.

It has speaker level inputs, but I think it would be easier to use a LOC and just run the RCA's. Also I'd go with a Basslink 2, it is more powerful and has an expansion slot to add a small 4 channel amp to it for your speakers. I have a tutorial on installing one in a 4 door ranger, it's in the how to section.

Both Basslink I & II have high (Speaker) level inputs, these basslinks are made for hooking up to OEM type systems. the basslink 1&2 will turn on automatically when its senses music. I would use the high level inputs on the sub instead of a converter so that you can use this auto-on feature.
You will need to buy a small amp wiring kit and speaker wire long enough for two runs to wherever you decide to tap into your speaker lines. I just pulled out my basslink II because its four years old and developed a rattle. it still works i just can't listen to it directly anymore. It was a great sub and is more powerful then the component 300w RMS kenwood amp and sub that I replaced it with. I seemed to have better sound from it when i mounted it in a down-fire position fyi. |

yep, depending on how you go about connecting the speaker wire you may want some quick-tap connectors.
