FYI....put some black silicone on the inside of that 3rd brake light so it doesn't leak.....if you dont seal it somehow, trust me it will leak when it rains.... |

btw i love this damn thing! is sooooo grrrreat!

I ran my cable out of the side of the light, on the lower corner with a slight "drip leg" (allowing cable to go down a bit before arcing back up). This setup seals well enough that it doesn't leak like having a hole on top where water beats down and accumulates on it.
Looks fine though. I don't like having my display down that low. I put it up on the dash to the left of the steering wheel in that unused area just below the gauges so I can see it without having to look down so much. |
Here's a crappy pic of how mine was mounted before I made the "drip leg" on the cable to keep water from running down the cable and into the hole.
https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...tid=5313&stc=1] And this is where I mounted the XM receiver so I could see it easily: https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...tid=5311&stc=1 |

can you post up some better pics of the dock mount? like the rear and side shots of the mounting. i have an idea, and i want to make a mount area where i can swap it out for the ipod. also how does the wires connect? and how do you have it playing thru your radio? is there a headphone jack out put?
|
looks good man

I don't think you have to worry too much about it being stolen. People can only use it until you notify Sirius, then it becomes a useless paperweight. I doubt that satellite radio receivers are high on the priority list for thieves -- if they have any intelligence at all, lol...

The back is simple: Audio Jack Insert: It has a 8mm male headphone type jack you plug into the back which than It converts to "2" RCA OUTPUTS (red and white for audio). I Have an "AUX" Meaning auxiliary program on my cd player which allows me to hook up anything audio to the cd Deck, Meaning I have a set of Rca coming out the back of my receiver for aux purpose only. Power Supply: Simple as 1,2,3, Same principle with the plug going into the back of the docking station, and it goes right into you cigarette lighter. Antenna: as with the above 2, same principle but just for the antenna. I can get pics but I will have em in a couple days. |

Ya have a point there. But my mount and docking station is too big and guady to be up high. Would look like a brick in the window but a blue one. lol  |
That's pretty typical of Sirius designs. I believe the nature of the multiple satellite tracking receiver design (as opposed to XM's just one at a time) makes the receivers bigger. New Sirius designs seem to have overcome that.
