head unit or amp settings

just got a head unit and amp and the head unit has all the same settings on it as the amp does, lpf, bass boost, and gain.........using the head unit for example it has 3 settings for lpf , where as the amp has a dail like normal. I am thinking of going with the amp settings and leaving lpf on and turn it off in the head unit. an suggestions? they both have hpf settings as well

head is JVC - KD-R728BT and the amp is a pioneer GM-D7500M if that helps?

thanks in advance

Like you said leave it on the amp and turn it off on the head unit. You want the amp to do the work not the head unit.

Probably the best reason to use the lpf on the amp would be that it usually allows for finer adjustments to be made. This would be better for blending the sub into the rest of your system.
Try to avoid using the bassboost on both units. but the boost on the headunit may offer more control over what frequencies are being boosted.
I would say, use the gain on the headunit as long as it provides a unclipped signal at all volumes.. its best to send the "hottest" clean signal you can to the amp to avoid interference and noise. You'll still want to use the amp gain a little but not as much as normal.
If your unsure about the gain on the head unit providing a clean signal then just leave it alone and use the amp.
