alright, my ipod is supposedly campatible with a Kenwood KDC-MP532U. but when i try to read it through the stereo (using the ipod cable that i had). it reads it, but it says that it doesent have any music and i know it does. do i have to download any special software? do i have to buy any special adapters?

 

sorry i know very little about this but a friend of mine bought a kenwood and bought a cable that went into the back of the headunit and thats all it too it read through the stereo with no problems it was nice the just ran the cable into the glove box and left there ipod in there

 

thing is, a usb cable is permantly attched to the unit

 

I just got the 538u and mine reads fine. Same set up with the usb attached. Maybe your head unit is faulty or try a new cable if you can. Does the head unit recognize the ipod when connected?

 

it recognizes it, but it says that there's no music

 

can you scroll through all the folders?

 

nope. also i just found out that it can play my sisters ipod (its the previous generation 30 gig) but it wont play mine the 80 gig

 

alright, it turns out that i need an update to run my new ipod. it has an update program, but the only models that seem to be compatible are the MP435U and MP535U. since mine is a MP532U, i dont know if it will work
