OK, I've searched here quite a bit and still haven't come up with what I'm looking for. I'm hoping it's not because no one on here has done it.

I am looking to put sub(s) in my 2000 extended cab that will not render either of the jump seats useless. I've got some ideas, but I'm looking to see if anyone here has done something like this successfully, and what ideas others might have.

Post up pics if you got 'em! Thanks in advance for any help!

Is your truck the 4 door or 2 door version?

If it is the 4 door version you could do this:
(not mine, I found these years ago on this forum. I forget who this was, but someone should remember)

these pictures go a little out of order, but you get the idea.

I saw one where it replaced the jack with a sub box and he just put the jack in the back. Thats what I want to do and he put a 8" but said a 10" could work.

thats what i did this week and depending the type of sub you take you dont need to have a box made. Ive got a 10 inch sub in the door facing the exterior of the door with just enought spacing between the panel and front of the speaker to replace a sub enclosure. Still need to isolate the trim, it rattle with the weight oftorch lamp and first aid kit hanging on the trim

tjtheman007, that's one of the ideas I had. Is that an 8" in there? I've been looking at the Lanzar Max 8, and thinking of trying to build a box in there. That one is great. I'd love to know how it sounds. Another thought was replacing the factory speakers in the rear doors with 8" subs, and building a box to slide up behind them, but seeing the ones in the bottom of the door, I think I may go that route instead. My other thought had been to try a downward firing box under the jump seats, as the MTX Thunderform for out trucks are, but I like the idea of them in the doors the best.

Im not sure if that is an 8" or a 10" I wanna say 10", but im not sure; it wasn't my build. If you measure the width of the pocket in your door, you should be able to get pretty close measurements of what will fit.

I liked that idea of the subs in the doors though, because if you have a 4 door, the only thing you lose is a storage pocket. You keep your seats, and the rear speakers!

I really cant remember who did that install. I liked it so I saved the pics. Let me see if i can dig through and see who actually did that.

If you have some ideas, just draw up a picture or even draw something in paint, however rough it may be, and we can give you pointers on it.

The only thing I would change would be to add a speaker terminal into the front fiberglass piece. Just above where the plastic goes over the fiberglass so it is hidden.

Here is a link to that forum, and yes it is an 8" sub:

there is another option. It saves one of the seats. It will be an easier install with a bigger box. I still personally like the first idea I gave you.

I'm going to hopefully have the time to get some measurements tomorrow and draw up the box in Solidworks. When I do, I'll get the pic up. It looks like that one eliminated the rear seatbelts, though, so I'll be making sure the box fits around them.

Well I took the measurements, and designed the box (first draft), to calculate my airspace as only .18 cu. ft., which isn't going to cut it. I'm going to look at making up some of the airspace by having the rear wider toward the back of the door, so that I can still get it in once it's assembled, but I think I'm going to have to do this in glass to keep the wall thickness of the box down. I was hoping to be able to do this via MDF construction, but it would just cut down on the very little airspace I'm working with. After reading that progress post, I'm thinking I may want to see if I can score a junkyard door so that I can work with it in the garage laying flat. Glassing sucks when you have to work in place in a spot like this. LOL

Here's a screenshot of the box, but this won't be the final shape and dimensions.

That is a pretty good design. I know what you mean with the airspace being very limited. Keep up the good work!

Getting an extra door at the junkyard would be an awesome find, might be kind of expensive though. Will the rear seat belt still work with your design then? Thats sweet!

Nice work.

Yeah, the rear seatbelts will stay. That's part of the challenge with this build. I have kids, and they ride in the back often, so I can't lose the seats or seatbelts to make this work.
