Monster Cable/iPod/fm tuner problems

read my latest post down there

bamaboy 01-03-2006 02:42 PM

is it a fm transmitter or what?
stock radio or aftermarket?
might need to change stations its on

KARPE 01-03-2006 03:22 PM

Pioneer Aftermarket H/U ( doesn't work with the pioneer specific ipod adapter)
FM tuner, tried every preset station and a few others

this thing was powerful enough at the beginning, that 107.9 fm came in decent and the iPod went right over it. same thing with 88.1fm.... theres no settings to change on the ipod of the tuner so I'm just like WTF at this point. I dont wanna be out 85 bucks, so I'm looking for the receipt but I'd rather this **** just worked

Strider0O0 01-03-2006 03:33 PM

does the headunit have any aux. input? i'd never waste my time with an FM transmitter unless it was a last resort

KARPE 01-03-2006 03:40 PM

yeah it is a last resort at this point. no aux imputs only front and rear outputs grrr.

I want a new H/U!

quest51210 01-03-2006 04:22 PM

if it is a pioneer take that transmitter back and get a refund. go on ebay and get the IP-BUS adapter for the pioneer. it converts the cd changer/xm input into an auxiliary input so you can directly play the ipod thru the unit. costs 20-30bux depending on which buyer you get it from. i just sold my last one to my buddy

KARPE 01-04-2006 12:49 AM

Does that work with the DEH-P4600MP?? cuz that is my H/U

Strider0O0 01-04-2006 12:51 AM

do you have a connection for the changer? if so, then yes, it should work

EDIT: i looked it up.. you'll need either the CDRB10 or CDRB20, depending on which it is (im not sure). the RB10 is like 20 bucks, the RB20 is like 75ish (according to one website, so it may be cheaper elsewhere).

anyways, you'll have to take a look to see which one it is (i didnt see pics, so i dont know myself).

Strider0O0 01-04-2006 01:04 AM

alright, i looked closer.

you'll need the CD-RB10 (like 20-25 bucks). it plugs into the CD changer jack on the back of the headunit, and allows for portible players to be plugged into it via RCA jacks. so that's what you'll need. NO STATIC AT ALL THIS WAY!

from there, you'll probably need some sort of "RCA plug to 1/8" stereo miniplug" so it'll connect with your ipod (im assumming ipod's have 1/8" jacks on them). they're a couple bucks, nothing too expensive.

the CD-RB20 is used if you wish to connect your ipod, and still connect a CD changer (if you had one already using that jack in the back of the headunit).

I'm not an expert, but two of my friends have ipods with the fm transmitter thing and they both have to use FM 89.10 for theirs to work. Maybe give that a shot? Sorry if this doesn't mean sh!t lol.

quest51210 01-04-2006 01:20 AM

should not be more than 40 total and thats using quality connectors

popecruz 01-04-2006 01:22 AM

I looked on circuitcity.com and could not find the product you have.

On another note, its good to see im not the only insomniac on these forums lol. Its 3:30 and i have the alarm clock set for 9 am ... and i can't sleep!

I know my Pioneer DEH-P6500 Headunit doesent have an AUX output/plug, so i just got the Monstar Icarplay myself to go with my newly added 30gig Ipod Photo. It seems to work very well, you just have to change stations randomly(the outside rasio signals come in and out periodicially) I mean like i usually sue 90.5 but for some reason all of a sudden a station started coming in so i had to change to 88.3 Just find the station w/ no signal(or as little as possible) and as little static as possible. It is a hard and tedious task, but its worth taking 5min to do.

the 6500 does have the connection and you just need the IP-BUS adapter so you could direct link any aux. to the headunit

Mr. Special 01-04-2006 02:15 AM

are u serous... ahah damn it. Ok so with this adapter, it takes the place of my CD source? or how does it work(not that i can do it anymore, i've already dropped 45 on ebay for the Icartrip; and it does work well)

quest51210 01-04-2006 02:25 AM

well 90% of pioneers have a square blue female plug on the rear of the deck and is usually used for a cd changer. its called an IP-BUS. the adapter enables the radio to adapt any auxiliary to it. MP3 player, DVD player, etc so it can have the highest quality connection. just trying to lend a helping hand i used to install for a living and dealt with my customers very well.

Mr. Special 01-04-2006 02:32 AM

mmm kinda wish i knew this before i got my transmitter. lol, oh well live and learn. Thx for the info Fernando

quest51210 01-04-2006 02:46 AM

Mr. Special 01-04-2006 02:54 AM
