Why did you get a 500 watt wiring kit for a 800 watt amp?

This thread is destined for trouble, as 04blackedge asked, you are going to have undersized wiring. Most kits, especially the cheaper brands are horrible when it comes to power rating their wires.

Run your ground, (which should always be the same gauge or thicker; smaller numerical value) as the shortest length possible for the least resistance, grounding to the cab (seatbelt bolt, bare metal surface . . .).

You will need a remote turn on wire ran from your Head Unit, on the same side as your RCAs which are opposite side your power wire. The remote lead is usually blue/white.

Ground goes to chassis. Yes, you need remote turn on hooked up to the headunit if you want to it to ever turn on lol. Ground doesn't go to the headunit at all. I made a tutorial on how to install an Infinity basslink which has a built in amp. Hooking them up is going to be the same, check the How To Submissions category for the thread.

well i went to circuit city and the guy said the 500 watt would be fine for my amp and subs. and i checked on sony's website and it said there is no need for a remote turn on cable, and idk where i would hook one up on my headunit.

this is what i have

Signal-sensing speaker-level inputs activate the amp automatically when you turn on your factory radio, so there's no remote turn-on lead for you to install.

Thats only when you use the speaker wire in the amp, not the RCAs. You need the remote turn on.

The Circuit city guy is an idiot you need wiring that is at and over what its rated, not under.

Ohh it's 340RMS, 8 gauge would be the very smallest I would run, 4 being the safe bet, also what I ran for my 400RMS Clarion/Kenwood.

Apparently you won't need a remote turn on . . . dunno if that sounds very reliable however you are right, don't worry about a remote turn on, just the rest.

He does need a remote turn on, read my post. When you use speaker level inputs you don't need it, RCA's you do.

I don't know where the OP got 800 watts from, but your right the 500 will be fine.

Ahh, I wasn't sure if he knew and planned on running speaker inputs instead to avoid the remote turn on. The lack of detail kills me, also I don't buy/like Sony so that doesn't help.

I got the same amp for Christmas, and is sounds really good by the way, but yeah, u need to run the remote to the amp, and i ran my ground to a bolt in the passenger seat that bolts the seat to the floor.
