My new Reg Cab heart pounding system!!!
 

Ah yes, tis the season to upgrade your stereo and make it loud and powerful. You may remember my old system...2 10 inch lightning audio subs (300 watts max each) in a small box powered by a 250W Sony amp. Well it was fun while it lasted, but after 2 and a half years it just wasnt doing it for me anymore.

That being said, here is the new system. I took everything out of the back...I cut out the rear speakers and carpet/carboard background. Then i covered the back with some dynomat for insulation. Then came the hard part.

I bought 2 10 inch 600 watt Pioneer Subs and a 760 watt Pioneer amp. As you may know they are kinda big so it took me about 2 hours to come up with this design...keep in mind my goal was to be able to keep the seats all the way back and lose no leg room. Long story short, i pulled it off. It sounds amazing...and yeah it is incredibly loud. Right now the amp is at half power and my pioneer deck bass settings are at 2 of 6. Also the repositioning of the rear speakers to the center allows the music to be heard more clearly.


Here are the pics! btw the first one is what used to be attached to the back of the pioneer subs...i cut it off and gained about 1 inch of room to work with..i recommend that for reg cab people..it was useless plastic anyways

Man that looks great! Any tips on covering a sub box? What sort of adhesive did you use?

Looks nice! Did they make the cab bigger on the gen 3's? Cause my gen 2 with the seat all the way back doesn't really have enough room for subs.

i got my black carpet at Checker...18 square feet for $13 :biggrin: and i used Super 77 adhesive spray along with a staple gun for the bottom

you can get the spray at most arts and crafts stores

Great thanks! Another guy I talked to suggested Super 80 adhesive also... any experience with the 80 vs. the 77?

they both work equally well, but either way you go your still going to need a few staples here and there..in my case, i always use staples on the bottom that way they arent seen

EDIT: as you can see, i did a better job hiding the staples on this new box

how do you think it would be mounting the rear speakers towards each side where your subs are, and then mounting a single 8" in the middle? or should the subs still sit behind the seats?

can the center console still flip up?

yes sir...I actually hadn't thought of that when i was building it, but when i got everything in I flipped it up all the way and sighed in relief

i prefer the subs behind the seats, so they are hidden, and i find that subs mounted closely behind seats make a better sound.
