subs in back doors
I have an extended cab mazda, and I want a little bass, but I still want to be able to use my back seats. Has any one tried putting small subwoofers in their back doors, and if so, what is the biggest size that will fit without screwing something up bad? Enlarging the hole is not a big concern.
Elemental designs has their 6 inch subs on sale right now, but I also have to two old 8 inch jls, so I was thinking either 6 inch or 8 inch.

subs have to be in a sealed enclosure or they will sounds like crap and me useless. are you talkking about mounting them in stock locations. If you are just wanting a lil more boom boom. just get a really nice set of front and rear component speakers and amp them. you will be very pleased.

There is plenty of space for an 10" sealed in there. Just deaden the hell out of it and do a fiberglass enclosure like in that other thread. If you dont care about modifying the door panels back there, you could make it look a lot cleaner.
Two 8's would be plenty for just listening to music at normal levels in a ranger. However, eDuh is the last place I would go to.
If you are on a budget: Partsexpress.com
Dayton and Tang Band all the way for cheap subs.

Yeah Mike, I'd love to do that someday, and make use of those huge pockets in the back doors. I'm gonna wait on it though because I want to upgrade other parts of my stereo before I spend money on adding midbass. Although I do have two free channels on that Kenwood amp so all I need is some 8"s.
So forgottenben are you going with free air subs? And cutting the existing speaker holes bigger? Let us know how it turns out.. if there's a lot of rattle you could try a can or two of sprayfoam insulation inside the door. I've never tried it, but I think that would work.
