Ford Part Number: 3L5T-18C815-AB AM/FM CD mp3

I bought this radio online for my 2003 Mazda B-2300 that came with an OEM AM/FM radio Mazda: 1F7066870B

The CD unit plugs right into the existing wiring adapter. I get power, lights, AM radio and CD player function but none of the face buttons are working.

I cannot change stations nor CD tracks nor even eject the CD. Once a CD is playing you cannot change to FM, etc. The power button and volume work correctly.

Is this a defective unit or is there some interface that I must use to go from the OEM Mazda AM/FM wiring scheme to the Ford AM/FM CD MP3?

One website states that the two radios are interchangeable but I'm not sure of the source.

Anybody have thoughts, solutions, past experience?

might have to have the dealer reflash the computer due to the added functionality of the radio you put in, that or your missing a connection.

 

I wondered about that but this radio doesn't have any data functions and is supposed to be plug-n-play.

Is the computer reflash correct on 2003 radios? The radio looks like new so I'll call a dealer and find out.

 

I just returned it to the seller even though it contains my Beatles White Album CD.
