What do you guys think about fabing up some sub boxes that come out of where the rear jump seats are located? has anyone done this? PICS?

 

i have made a couple that replace one of the seats back there. Here is a recent one that i fiberglassed:


and here it is in place of the seat. It has a step in the base that allows it to go all of the way to the back wall.

as of now i am doing alot of fiberglass work for friends and stuff but only as a hobby. Maybe when i get a little more proficient at it i'll start shipping out.

Ahhh...i may be getting rid of my sub, amp, and box soon if things go right. I am thinking of upgrading to one or two 12's. I don't know for sure at the moment but keep an eye out for this box in the classifieds.

 

how do you get into doing fiberglass work like that. that is somthing I would love to learn about?

maybe some mat, depending on thickness needed
body filler
sandpaper
lots of elbow grease

As for the supplies, if you are just starting and want to just try and get the hang of it, then you can get the basics at walmart or autozone. The basics will consist of resin, fiberglass mat (many new people to fiberglassing decide on getting cloth instead of mat. It may look easier to work with but I have found it to be a PITA so stick with mat), duraglass (i think the bondo brand calls it short stranded fiberglass filler or something), and a bodyfiller which i highly reccomend Rage Gold, which can be found at most bodyshops. You'll need brushes to apply the resin and gloves to keep everything off your hands. You don't want to breath in the fumes from the resin or the sanding so i'd advise that you pick up a respirator (and that can be used for many other things like painting). With all that you should be ready to start a build. Yes it may sound like a lot but if you are anything like me, building somthing like this from scratch is well worth it. Have fun and remember to take your time, that is key to doing a good job.

I'm going to build my own box with a cover and pop some led's to it. I was just talkin to beaver about how I was going to go about doing it. Although fiber is amazing to work with - I've never had a box like that - how good is the seal and sound from it? this is the design I plan on working with....
