What amp should I use?

I am getting one solo 10" for my truck, heres the specs if you need to know them:

Dual 2 ohm voice coils
1200 watts max power handling
600 Watts RMS power handling
85.7 DB sensitivity
20 ? 100 K frequency response
6 3/8? mounting depth
9.5? cut out diameter
sealed box .66 ? 1.00 cubic feet
Min vented box 1.25 ? 2.25 cubic feet
Square cone adds up to 20% more cone area
Solokon 1 piece cone
Poly cotton semi progressive spider
Jacketed braided tinsel leads
Uniplate
Cast aluminum basket
Santoprene rubber surrounds
T cut top plate

I have the box and everything already made, so I dont have to worry about that. I just need an amp to power it, so far I have just found this one.. Is there anything else that would power it, and sound good??

http://cgi.ebay.com/VOLFENHAG-ZX-829...QQcmdZViewItem

-Thanks, Burnfire

^The absolute best bang for the buck IMO. Hifonics is a really good amp company and you can't get a decent 1200 watt mono amp like that for under 500 anywhere. Uness you wanna buy refurbs. If that's the case, I would suggest www.ikesound.com . Be carefull though, and call to make sure they got what you want IN STOCK. They're known for doing things like taking orders w/o warning you that it will be a few weeks before they can even ship your order because they would be backed up or something. -AMBERFACE xoxo

EDIT That amp you listed is garbage. Do this right. Oh and by "solo 10" did you mean a kicker of some kind? Or just a single 10? What kind of sub is it?

who lied to you?

he means a kicker L7, and yes the volfenhag is the suck, i would suggest aganist ike, try www.cardomain.com and price match, get some stuff cheaper than ebay with a factory warranty, the kenwood amps they have are good amps, whats the most you are wanting to spend?

Yea if you are talkin comps. I got a BX1505D (for sale actually lol) for a daily and its GREAT. As far as I'm concerned kenwood barely a notch above sony xplode amps. Their older amps are ok, but since 01 their stuff as been pretty much crap.

Just read your sig btw. I'm a RE man myself. Used to have a couple of SE 12s.

he he, let me touch the amp in naughty places, ill give you a cookie

they arnt that expensive, i just dont feel like ordering new amps at the moment

just wondering did you buy it new/used, sponsorship and if you dont mind what did you pay for i, very solid amps though

i was looking at wither 2 2500d's or XX goliath but ended up both being over 1k and i didnt have the money then so im just keeping the PA's for now, they power the MT's just fine, some of the best budget amps you can get about, each one has been runing at .7ohms for a few months now

Kenwood amps are really good. Just bought one for 180$ it makes my 12'' JL W3 v3 slam really hard. If you want a really good amp get JL they are super underated.

Man car audio is always good for a laugh. It's 90% opinion, 9% utter bull****, and maybe 1% actual fact-based knowledge.

That said, the only real reliable info one can give is to say that in car audio (like so many other things) you truly do get what you pay for. I, like many started with cheap crap because the MAX ratings were so cool and big! yay! NOT!

Now several systems a few years later I can tell you that if you actually care about true, musical, complete sound then you will be by far better off spending more money the FIRST TIME and getting quality stuff. (If you just want some more bass and aren't even going to bother doing anything about the mspeakers don't bother reading beyond this point )

So many people rush their systems and say, "I'll just get this for now, I can't afford nice stuff" and then in reality they end up with a POS system for 3 years before they can finally upgrade- if ever.

Do it piece by piece and do it right.

As for good amps to push that sub, pick up a JL 500/1, a Used Arc Audio amp, a HiFonics amp, or maybe even a Directed/DEI amp if you can find one. Just be careful where and WHO you buy used stuff from.

Oh, and you don't need 1200 watts, push it with 500~ RMS and you'll be fine.

Ok yeah everyone has their own opinion. But if you want something to hit hard and don't hear much complaining about go with a Rockford Fosgate amp. Im running 2 of them as of now soon to be 3 with my 5 farad capacitor. But its your choice. You can go with the "punch" series of go for the newer look. either way you will not be 2nd guessing once bought.

I can agree on both things said. So far in this topic i would go with mine or Lumadar's choice.

he linked a volfenhag amp, you guys are suggesting Arc and JL, both very pricey amps that dont really do anything better than some cheaper amps

if you get the dual 2 L7, ive seen some cheaper orion 600d's going for pretty cheap

do you want a warranty

Dude, here it is. Since it is a dual 2 ohm driver, you need an amp that at least 600 watts. Now here is the tricky part, it has to be 1 ohm stable or wire it at 4 ohm. Any ?'s let me know. As far as the brand, Go with what you like not everybody else. MAKE SURE IT IS 1 OHM STABLE. MOST AMPS ARE NOT

I dig the infinity amps alot, also RockFord Fosgate as well but they're a little on the pricey side.

Now if your going high end, I suggest either JBL or JL Audio but there abit more pricey with JL getting up into the 1 grand area.

Wait, did you seriously just say that there isn't a noticable difference between a volfenhang amp (or other cheap amp) and arc/JL?
You clearly know little more than the packages tell you of car audio. The differences are immense, and too many to even bother going into.

I totally agree with Lumadar. Look ar the controls on your cheap sub amp & then look at controls on a JL sub amp. NO COMPARISON!!!

Thanks for all the replys.. Sorry it has been two weeks before I can reply. But I have been grounded, and at church camp. Sorry. After reading through everything, I am going to with Lumadar's advice. And just get everything that I want know. I was thinking about going all kicker.. So my next question is what amp of Kicker's would be good? I was thinking maybe:

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=279

Or would that not work? I am not sure if this amp is 1 ohm stable.

Thanks

Unfortunatly that amp won't work, the most you'll get out of it is around 300 watts. You need an amp that will do 600 watts at 4 ohm or 1 ohm, because of the way you have to wire your dual 2 ohm sub. I would recommend the Kicker ZX550.2 on the same website. ($340)
