No back speakers
Well today when I was installing my new kicker 6x8's I found out that I have no back speakers so what would be the best way to try to install them??
Well XL's dont even have the cutouts in the plastic panels do they? if they dont you need XLT panels. I think they are wired for speakers, they just aren't there.
Yeh they have the cutouts but when you take the screen off, there is just a big open spot. There are some wires running thru there but i dunno if its the speaker wires.
Hmm take a pic of the wires im sure someone will chime in. Knowing Ford you have the wiring for the rear speakers, you just dont have the rear speakers lol.
did you buy the truck used? if so i bet someone had after market speakers in there before they sold it and got rid of the stock ones. and had nothing to replace them with.
should be 2 wires coming out of the panel. |
I bought the truck new....sometime this week I'm gonna get some pics

I'm not sure...when I put in my Pioneer I blew the factory ones out quick so i just got kicker 6x8's....i will post pics sometime this week of the back speaker hole
So the 07's came from the factory with no rear speakers? Can anyone else verify this? If that's the case, Ford is really getting cheap.
My '08 XL has the rear speaker covers, but no speakers (or mounting bracket or anything) behind them. There is a wiring harness running along the back of the cab, but I don't see any obvious speaker wires.
I wasn't surprised it didn't have speakers, but I was shocked to discover there was no wiring. Seems like it would cost them more to use a different wiring harness...... |
my 08 b2300 is the same way it has the cut outs but no rear speakers or wires yea FoMoCo is geting freaking cheap come on how hard would i have been to atleast put the wires back there
the only wiring back there is for the dome light and the third brake light |
Obviously in my 07 Tremor it has rear speakers but in my old work Ranger (04' 3L extended cab), it did not have any rear speakers. It didnt even have the wiring back there. It just had the cutouts and the covers. I installed some back there and just ran a wire from the head unit rear outputs under the flooring and up into the side panels and wired them in. It wasnt really that hard and honestly, I didnt mind it cause I was able to use the wire I wanted to use.
Its not to hard just go get some speaker wire run it to the back under the threshold by the door and into the opening where the speaker is wire it up and enjoy. Very easy. Btw nice truck!
I have my fade turned all the way to the front, I don't like the way my truck sounds with my back speakers on....
Maybe that's just me, but I do have a 12" sub in the back so It kinda drowns out those speakers anyway. I am prolly gonna be replacing just the front ones for now - maybe even remove the back. Good luck with your install, just wanted to point out that in my opinion the rears aren't that important. |
Ford got so cheap my old job's 2006 F-250 XL Crew Cab ony had front speakers.
im thankful my truck has speakers in the back but im not so shure i like the way there installed there screwed into the plastic grill and then the grill is screwed to the body it caused major rattling with the stock speakers i thought i blew them but they werent screwed in all the way i replaces them anyway
Anyone know how to remove the back door panel on a 2001 xlt?
