I was thinking instead of having a whole speaker in my door, Why couldn't i take em out and modify a bracket and just put in component tweeters in there? I dont need bass coming out of my doors because you cant hear the bass neway because of my 2 12" subs. I like my music clean,clear and loud. I think its a good idea. Just blurbing out some stuff.......

thats not the best location for them, to give you optimum sound. towards the top front of the door panel, or the A-pillars will give you much better sound. as for the front doors speakers you need to get rid of them, but if you do just fill the gap with foam.

 

he has tweeters already in the A pillars. what if he put them in the door handle? i saw it once on here but cant remember whos truck it is. would that make it sond any better?

 

if you've got the tweeters in the A pillars and you are not planning on removing them, then there is no point on removing the speakers in your doors and replacing them with tweeters. I have tweeters near the A pillars, and I replaced my 5x7s with 3way 6x9's and you cannot tell a difference, because the tweeters near the A pillar drown them out.

If you were to take the tweeters out of the A pillars and put them where the door speakers are, you'd lose alot of quality in your system. As Karpe said, that is not at all an ideal spot for a tweeter. I also wouldn't remove the speakers because though you don't notice it much, you really do need the mids that the 5x7's are creating.

It seems you're coming up with alot of ideas to spend your money on stuff that really doesn't matter much, or at all. Take it from an older guy who's been in your shoes, save your money so you can put it into something worthwile down the road. Alright buddy?

 

Yeah, you probably would make a big mistake pulling the midbass out of your music unless you only listen to rap... even then it would sound like ****. Because the midbass is the kick drum and the low bass guitar notes. You don't want to pop in a Korn CD and hear Jonathan screaming and cymbals crashing and a really loud rumble from the subs.

What you need to do is get a component system and mount them in Kick panels, like an MB quart system, then take the stock speakers out and install an MB Quart Add-a-Woofer system, then amp it to the max.

THAT would be loud and clean.

 

I almost cried when I found out Maxxsonix had bought MB Quart... All the good brands are starting to go under because of all the $50 sets of coaxials on eBay.

you not going to have any music form about 80-3500hz could be more or less, because depending on the tweet they can play things below 2000-4000hz

i've been looking around for a pair of MW170's to use as my mid's. normal price "in stores" seems to be about 220 ea. i found a site online somewhere that had them at 170. do you think you'd be able to get any of them? or do dealer costs only really make a difference with their sets (system 360, etc..)...

 

You definately don't want just tweeters in the doors, you NEED a midbass. It would sound like hel* without them...and you said you want it to sound clean! ha.
I'm getting a set of 6.5" MBQuart Premium's as soon as I get the money for them. They are the older ones, they did come out with some new sets, which are the cheaper ones. They didn't change the Premiums at all, so they are still the old design, which is ridiculous awesome. They are about 260$ on onlinecarstereo.com. You also need to amp them for optimum sound, and with some quality power.

 

There you go, it would just be worthless to do that. And unless you have a crossover, those tweeters are gonna sound like crap. Just invest in a decent component set.

 

Yeah I already have a component set hooked up WITH crossovers on my a-pillars. And I would be gettting crossovers with the tweeters any way too. but we will see in time i guess
