questions about the 290watt and the tremor systems
i have the am/fm/cd (single)/sat receiver HU.
if i wanted to install a HU from the 290 system or the HU from the tremor, would it come with pre-outs for the sub/amp? are there any differences between the three HUs? i was just curious and wanted to keep a stock looking stereo. i don't want to do a lot of splicing of wires and was hoping one of the two would be almost plug and play. thanks. |

i have an old rockford 120 punch and i have a 10" pioneer sub. would that be too much for the stock HU?
kyle what's funny? |
I think he's laughing at you wanting to install the tremor sound system when you could just get a better system with better tuning options and superior signal processing.
Or he thinks it's funny that you had to ask about getting an amp for a sub. Or he's giggly. I'm just not sure |
i don't like aftermarket looking on or in my truck. to each their own right? i also don't wanna spend a ton on a system. i just want a little more kick when i listen to music.
i had a guess that i'd need an amp for the sub. i just wasn't sure if the HU had some sort of amp built in. |

kyle what's funny? I understand why you wouldnt want to add an aftermarket as most do not match the interior right and look out of place. Im a huge pita when it comes to matching, and ran out and bought a f900bt headunit just because the headunit I have doesnt match my interior at all. |
im sorry i just thought the idea of trying to hook up a woofer without an amp was funny... my buddy tried it and blew up his headunit how i dont even kno
|
no the amp is not in the head unit. its in the center console.
You could however, tap into the harness of the tremor unit and pull a low voltage signal for your RCAs. the head unit uses external amplification so, thats the only signal it puts out is low voltage rca. you would have to have amplifiers for the sub and fronts. |
thanks guys. any schematics (sp)? also what harness and what is a line converter? as far as the non matching pieces. yea, that is a biggie with me. i don't want this "ugly" non matching thing in the middle of my dash.
i didn't get the 290 system because i wanted a bench. i'm not a fan of the full console. |
I have no schematics, thats something you would have to figure out yourself. I just know that that headunit only acts as a preamp. you should be able to find a harness for a pioneer oem ranger.. there is probably* two separate plugs one for power and such, then one for the external amplifiers. those will be your "rca" outputs but you will have to put rca ends on the bare wires yourself. I didn't say it would be easy. :happysad:

Morris, I can send you the wiring diagrams if you want out of my manual if they're any good to you or pull out my HU and snap a pic as I have the 290w system.
|
sure adam, a pic would help. thanks for the help so far. both of you.
