quick system question

im plannin on gettin my system for graduation and i was planning on getting the Lanzar Opti1232d and its rated at 2200 max and 1100 rms and i was just wondering what size amp i would need..since it can only run 1100 rms should i only need a 1000 watt amp?

and has any one ever bought from onlinecarstereo.com before?i just wanna kno they have good qaulity stuff before i buy

CBFranger 05-18-2009 07:54 PM

Onlinecarstereo has always been good to me.

As far as your question: Yes, a 1000w RMS amp would work fine. You can use any sized amp you're like, really. However, an underpowered amp will not push the driver to its full potential and an over powered amp can blow the driver if you aren't conscious of how hard you are pushing your drivers when cranking the stereo up. I dont know how accurately Lanzar rates their drivers but I imagine that the 1100w rating is a little on the high side. A true 800-1000w amp will work. If you'd like suggestions on amps give us a price range.

Are you talking $2-300 for the system or just the amp?

05SonicSTX 05-18-2009 08:33 PM

Onlinecarstereo.com are good people. Quality products and fair prices. Don't fall for the "more watts means louder". Most companies exaggerate their outputs to impress uninformed buyers.
I run a single 10" audiobahn ($75) with a 300 watt Profile mono amp ($130), and an 90 watt Profile 2 channel amp ($100) to my front MTX 6x8's from a Kenwood Excelon HU ($170). I have had multi-thousand $$ systems leave me with their tails between their legs.

Good balance and installation = good sound

Hifonics BX1210D
Hifonics BXI 1210D Amp: Mono

Over rated but still makes a good 900-1000w. I had the old BX1200D and it was great to me. Decently clean power and a good price. I've also used the 1500w amp of this series an the 2000w amp of this series and all have been great budget amps.

Alpine MRP-M1000
Alpine MRP-M1000 Amp: Mono

Cant go wrong with Alpine when it comes to amps and source units, Period. This amp will do rated power or a bit more.

JBL GTO 7001
JBL GTO7001 Amp: Mono

JBL has great SQ and I havent heard anything bad about them. However, I have never installed this series of amps.

Sundown Audio SAE1200D

I run the SAZ series 1500w amp. Flat out good amps. Worth the extra cash. This isn't quite the same sort of durability. By that I mean, you wont get away with running it at half the minimum recommended load on a daily basis for years on end like I have with my SAZ1500D. Good people running the company and that website, also. This is a top notch product.

would i need anything else like a capacitor or anythign?

CBFranger 05-19-2009 12:47 PM

Not in particular. You should have a 95a alt. You'll probably get a little dimming but nothing serious. If anything upgrade your battery and Big 3 first.
