D3 help
So since my tranny swap my D3's navi doesn't really work. It has no idea where I'm going. It still finds places, but once I start going places it tells me to turn around and starts changing my route.
I had to completely take it out when I was changing out interior pieces but nothing major. Just unplugged the pieces that were on it.
Now because my VSS isn't hooked up could this be causing it? I know the speed wire is tapped at the GEM for the VSS coming from the PCM, but since my VSS isn't attached right now is that why it can't find me? The VSS will be fixed on Friday next weekend, along with my Reverse sensor.
When I'm in route (say I punch something in for it to tell me how to get there) it doesn't lay me on top of the street I'm on and it kinda jumps back and forth from the location to where I am.... Shouldn't it be working off the the GPS and not my VSS? The VSS only lets me use the speedometer in the D3 itself, or so I thought.
Why can't I just type something in and go? What's going on?

You got it right, the VSS detects the actual motion. It uses it to pace from where the satellite last located you, if it didn't use the VSS it couldn't really detect if your truck became closer by moving or rising in elevation (becoming closer).
I'll bet reconnecting the VSS will correct your problem.
